  • going to continue to talk about the world around us in addition to discussing the state of the MBA and its return next month on and let's actually start right here, get into some corn times on and talk about, you know, our show last week, which meant a lot to us and hopefully met something to our viewers.

  • We shared a lot about, was on our minds and hard says our country continues to reflect on face battle.

  • Deeply rooted systematic racism.

  • And part of that battle is using your platform to take a stand in an act change.

  • Which is why we were even willing to criticize some teams around the N B A.

  • Namely the Knicks and Spurs.

  • And, you know, you were very out spoken last week specifically on this topic.

  • A mean, did you receive any feedback or direct criticism?

  • Um, you know, for your comments well, criticism from a lot of people who, coincidentally, were all Spurs fans I worked out that just happened to be those of the people will complain about what I said.

  • Ah, but more importantly, I did get some feedback from the Spurs organization themselves, and they explained kind of how they wanted to make their statement more memorable.

  • On more impactful, they felt by having different voices speak, Um, and eventually Peter Don Hold, the chairman of the team, dropped his video later that week.

  • I thought we had a very productive conversation.

  • They I think they understood what I was getting on the importance of not being stuck in either or situation where either I make a statement on the letterhead or I can do what we did.

  • These videos, you can do both.

  • You can do as many things as you can under your control, and I think that would have kind of alleviated some of concerns, at least consistent.

  • I had a lot of concerns that a lot of other black people have when they're seeing videos of people who are not the quote unquote people in charge doing it.

  • But I thought it was It was a very productive conversation.

  • I saw some of their points.

  • A Zafar is how they wanted it to be framed, and I think they saw some of my points as well.

  • And ultimately that's what I hope any of these videos or statements.

  • Ah, but made by anybody brings about a conversation and try and learning because oftentimes people stake a claim to a grant piece of ground and then they stick on it.

  • Even if you're making great points, I'm gonna change my mind, which is kind of ridiculous.

  • Yeah, Look, the Spurs, like you said, they have, you know, been putting out the Spurs voices.

  • Siri's we saw as you mentioned, you're holding.

  • And Popovich also did one where he got emotionally Will Hardy other assistant coaches, the name a few of the white faces, you know, that let their voice to this this movement on did.

  • They said they wrote in the Siri's description.

  • They want to take a step towards creating Impact will change, starting with our community.

  • While technology of this issue is systemic, so a t least they're committed to having the conversation.

  • But you know what we've been talking about?

  • It is, it's It's about the conversation and how we moved from the conversation to actual real change.

  • Meanwhile, Perk the Knicks finally put out a public statements.

  • Eight.

  • Dave actor, the infamous were not any more qualified than anyone else email, and this is what they tweeted out.

  • Let me just let me just read this.

  • Every one of us has a role to play in creating a more just and equal society.

  • When there is no racism, bigotry, violence or hate, we stand with all who act for positive change.

  • Your thought took.

  • Bill was horrible.

  • I mean, like, seriously, I mean, like, just keep it like, just don't say anything like it was almost like I don't even know like I don't even know how to address The Knicks is almost to the point where it is, like, don't need to just go ahead and just sell the team cause he's showing his true colors are lacking girl right now, Obviously you don't care about what's going on because he's this rich, poor kid that inherited billions of dollars, inherited the New York Knicks.

  • So what does it matter to him that was going on in American and but still writes, He sees those four.

  • He would come to the game, he says, down course I drinking and doing his thing.

  • So what does it matter to help?

  • But you know what?

  • I'm disappointed right now in a lot of the MBA on, and here's what.

  • Well, get drafted our place sign with a team.

  • I just remember.

  • You know the owners.

  • Hey, part man was so happy to have you pointed a family we can So much about you.

  • If you have a needles were here what we need, You know where you have right now is only to owners that really stepped up and put their money where their mouth is.

  • It bothers me because once again, we talk about popular and powerful.

  • These owners are powerful.

  • These owners have the connections in the political world.

  • These owners are in conversations with governors and senators thin, whatever the case may be.

  • And he it is that okay, 80% of the MBA is made up of African Americans that are filling up these stairs for the owners that you care about so much.

  • But yet you're not standing on the front line force.

  • But on the flip side of it, when you on the basketball team like Dan Gilbert got, you know, his son that was going through the disease, they Yes, that Okay, Dan Gilbert is happening a bit.

  • Make sure all please are there to support all the players and their support.

  • You know, it.

  • Boston.

  • Oh, they're having a gala.

  • This is for this opens up, you know, we grow spec.

  • His son was going through a problem.

  • You know, disability.

  • Here we are supporting mill and actually spending money on options to donate to that to that situation.

  • But now it is the time for getting to speak out, not only speak out, but put their money where their mouth is and we don't have from.

  • That's why I have so much respect for guys like, you know, in his players, right?

  • And I'm not talking to the players.

  • I'm talking to the owners, but places like white American players like JJ ready, who's speaking out and speaking out for for silver rights for all coaches.

  • You gotta love that.

  • And then my favorite teammate of all time, Nick Collison.

  • You know what happened with that?

  • When the when the situation with George Floor first happen, Nick Collison went on his instagram and donated 20 ranks.

  • 20 Rex, the African American Foundation to help, you know, with with this whole situation.

  • So I'm just waiting on these owners that say they care about so much.

  • Listen, we may cpac Google, who's supposed to be a great friend of mine, for that's a majority only for the Boston Celtics you came from.

  • I win.

  • So I was You must care about care about me and something it hurt.

  • Maybe launching out right now.

  • A lot of civil rights, will you, right now what I want?

  • Because I think the fans at home they may not be aware now.

  • How often in regular times are these guys contacting you, man?

  • It's all the time, man.

  • Like all this is takes messages here.

  • Hey, just checking on you on the fam Hope all is well.

  • You know, like, if you're going to send me a personal message, I know you know what's going on.

  • My, you I know you see me speaking out like, What are you gonna do about it?

  • But that's the thing.

  • Like, that's why I keep said like, Yes, you know, like us three on here, our whole streams Will Papa Lou, right, Because we build the brand five ourselves and were popular in the world.

  • But it's a difference when me or powerful, like we need these people power to start stepping up and saying something.

  • I'm very disappointed in the owners of the NBA's besides Michael Jordan.

  • Steve Bomb.

  • To be honest, I you know what I'll add to that lives.

  • The bank has done a lot.

  • He hey, done a lot before all this went down.

  • I really have a lot of respect for background and even the Kings, because when they had their situations happening in Sacramento, when the young man was shot in Sakhalin about police, Vivek not only allowed protesters around the arena when everyone saying we should clear amount but also put out a very strong statement, he spoke to the crowd.

  • He got on the mike and spoke to the crowd and, uh, has put now, I believe this week a.

  • There's ah coalition between him and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

  • Liver wolves, right, Teoh to ah, a change team up for changed.

  • And they're putting their money where their mouth is.

  • So But in addition to in addition to Mark Lazarus with the box, he was out on the streets protesting, um, with ah lot of the players on this team.

  • Um, so to your point, yeah, the box the Kings and Timberwolves Mrs Benson has put put together some some Ah a lot of resource is behind these task forces between the Saints and the pelicans.

  • I know.

  • Ah, believe it's Oh, man, Never mind.

  • I can remember the guy's name, but a one of players for the ST is very active in, and they've support him.

  • And obviously, JJ Reddick is part of that as well.

  • So but what Burke is driving that is walk out on one hand, the team owners who have done not just a statement but done stuff actually done stuff.

  • And on the other hand and feet, I can count all the ones who have it.

going to continue to talk about the world around us in addition to discussing the state of the MBA and its return next month on and let's actually start right here, get into some corn times on and talk about, you know, our show last week, which meant a lot to us and hopefully met something to our viewers.
