Because of the man on the world map, Canada looks huge, and the kid in me thought the bigger in the country, the more powerful it is. But turns out, Canada is not that huge, and the world map is wrong. This video is not here to blame anyone. It's just to share information because the current world map that we know is inaccurate. See, this Mercator map was invented 500 years ago, and the point of it was simple. It was supposed to help you navigate, so if you use it, you can travel from one place to another easily. It's perfect for sealing, but it's not perfect in telling us the two sides of countries because it stretches them here. Greenland looks as big as Africa, but that's wrong. In real life, Africa is 14 times bigger than Greenland, and Canada is now small compared to Africa and compared to South America. Because the world is a sphere, there is many, many ways to represent it. On a paper. That's why at our Nass daily office, we decided to paint a different kind of map, one that shows you the true size of countries. This is the Goal Peters map, and it looks a bit weird when people see it. They think the painter did a bad job, but she didn't. This map shows you the true size of countries. A real life, Yes. Now Africa looks a little bit weird and distorted, but this is the true signs of it. Russia, Canada, Europe and Greenland are also now accurate because when it comes to countries, size does matter. When we shrink countries and expand others, it changes our perception. And unfortunately, the underdeveloped world pays most of the price. We think differently about small countries. Then we do about big ones. It's called geopolitics. In real life. I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Public schools in Boston understood this problem. That's why they decided to switch to the new goal Peters map because, according to them, the new map is going to change how kids see the world much for the better. There are many kids like me right now in their bedrooms, looking at the world map and judging countries based on their size. It is high time we show them the true size in the true power off every country in the world.
