Hey guys and girls on Ask Japanese, this time again we're gonna pick up one of our top

10 videos and revisited it, with some extra comments from you guys and me. Let's go and find out

the body types that boys in Japan love. What figure should the ideal girl have in Japan. Let's go.

What's your girls ideal body type. - She should be small

Not too skinny. Sorry also not too fat.

She should have a good balance. - I prefer girls with skinny legs

She has to be smaller than me.

That's a common thing. Generally Japanese boys don't like it if their girlfriends are

taller than they are. They generally say they wanna have them smaller and legs

you'll get this a lot. The legs have to be slender... other parts

are allowed to be something else. Legs have to be slender. Japan has a leg culture because

there are school uniforms, they are seen more. Skinny legs are appreciated.

She should be skinny.

Like normal skinny. - Not to skinny but also not fat.

I want a normal girl.

Skinny.... skinny ... boys like...

their girls skinny. When they say even "a healthy shape"

a little bit of "chubby" is still normal. What is seen as being

a little bit chubby in Japan, is still skinny in other countries. Don't underestimate that.

I like chubby girls. I prefer them to skinny girls.

They will look unhealthy.

Being too skinny though some boys have realized is not good. Japanese girls aim

for a very skinny beauty ideal and in RECENT videos when we interviewed

people they have said that Japanese girls

have to... J girls think they need to be a lot more skinny than boys like them to be.

another problem for this beauty ideal is that Japanese fashion magazines show

tall models and write down how much they are weighting. Since generally

around 160 cm and then like

43-45 kilos which is very underweight

for many other people... Japanese girls see that and try to

aspire to look like that and

loads of girls deny themselves food to look skinnier. Even girls that would

look normal, will think that they're chubby even they they're not.

She should be skinny, even though she might not think so

as long as her ankles are skinny. - Ankles?

She should be slim. I can't deal with chubby.

She should be smaller than me. - Any other wishes?

No actually since this video was taken, the whole thicc trend has started in the USA

It's a LITTLE bit come over to Japan, there are now some boys who said...

a little bit curvy girls is ok but NOT too curvy.

Again what we see as "curvy" is still a big difference to the average body type that Japanese

boys prefer. They still prefer their girls curvy ... skinny... but some of them are ok with curvy by now.

A LITTLE bit at least.

An ideal? The person I will fall in love with, will be my type.

I don't have a particular ideal.

There is no ideal. If there is someone I like, that person will be my type.

That is the best response we got from the people there, according to your comments.

I don't have that.

When a girl has a cute heart, she will be pretty.

If her heart is kawaii/cute she will be kawaii/cute.

I like girls with colored hair.

Colorful hair and twin tails.

What does your ideal girl have to have? - Long hair!

I like girls with a short blonde bob, that uses irons to curl her hair a little.

I like girls with long hair.

I prefer girls with short hair.

I think girls with short hair are super cute.

My ideal... girls with open hair... I love that.

I tend to like girls who have short hair. I like that.

So small short haired girls. - That would be cute.

Hairtypes... there seems to be a real mix between long short and open hair like that.

I also heard before that there is a thing for pony tails.

If her hair suddenly puts her hair up in a ponytail. things like that.

So that's a bit of a mix but generally what we could see is ...

At the time when we interviewed back then...

Many boys said "I want them skinny. I want them skinny legs."

But it has changed a LITTLE bit.
