字幕列表 影片播放 列印英文字幕 Hey guys, welcome back to my channel, your virtual ticket to Japan. Before we start this video, I just wanted to mention our sponsor for today and that is italki. What is italki you may ask? It's one of the most effective and fastest ways to become fluent in a language. In this day and age we have so many opportunities to learn a multitude of things from the comfort of your home and italki does just that. It's convenient, affordable, and personalized. You can learn how people really speak just by having daily conversations with your online tutor or lessons customized to your needs and purposes. They also have a journal option where you can write in one specific language and get it checked by other native users. I love using this when I want to practice my grammar. It definitely helps me understand my mistakes and how to avoid them. You can choose from any language and they even have a language exchange option where you can make friends from other countries and learn each other's languages in exchange for your time. There are so many features to talk about and I could go on forever, but why don't you explore italki yourself and immerse yourself in the world of online language learning? Thanks for listening and enjoy the video. Episode 5 Okay, so I'm ready. I have my face on. Aha! I just did my hair. I don't think you guys want to see in every single video me doing my makeup and my hair because it's literally like the same every single time. I am heading to work for a work meeting. I'm going to talk to some of my coworkers. If you want to know more about teaching in Japan, I really want to ask them what they like about teaching in Japan. I think that would be kind of interesting for you guys to hear about. And then after that, I'm going to be doing a photoshoot with another Instagrammer Her name is Katya, and she's from Russia. But anyway, I'm gonna get my breakfast done and get out the door because I need to get to work, so I'll see you guys in a bit! [announcement on train] Tsugi wa-- So I'm running a little bit late. I'm gonna get some food, really quick, and then run to work. Today was a meeting day where I get to see all of my co-workers. I don't work with all of them so I'm really glad that we at least come together once in a while. Ready? Go. Everybody knows him. Everybody knows Chris. CHRIS: What do I like about teaching? LYZ: Yes. CHRIS: I like kids! [laughter] I like kids. I like having fun with kids, you know. You can be creative and like, just have fun with the kids. It doesn't feel like a high stress kind of job. LYZ: Yeah! You can. CHRIS: Yeah, you're teaching English but you're also just having fun, but you have to have the kind of personality to-- LYZ: It's a good exercise. [laughs] CHRIS: Oh yeah. That's definitely one thing. You're gonna be so tired, but at the end of the day it's like would I rather be tired sitting in a chair for ten hours a day? Or would I rather be tired, working with kids, and having fun and smiling a lot? LYZ: Yes. I agree. CHRIS: Kids could be monsters but I love them. LYZ: That is the best description ever! Thank you so much. That has nothing to do with-- Dan, tell me one thing you like about teaching. DAN: I like teaching because I get to act like a kid for a little while. LYZ: That's true! That's a good one. Thank you. What do you like about teaching? MALE COWORKER: Honestly the kids are really cute and I like to I like actually making a difference in their lives. LYZ: Aww! MALE COWORKER: It's pretty sweet, right? FEMALE COWORKER: I like hugs. LYZ: Aww! This is good. This is not gonna scare people away from moving to Japan. What I enjoy about teaching is I love seeing little children. I love seeing their face light up when I teach them English. "This is an apple. Apple!" "Full sentence please. This is an apple." I love seeing their smiles and... LYZ: When you say, "This is an apple"? MALE COWORKER: ...when I say, "This is an apple." Not a banana! When this is an apple. LYZ: Do you wanna say your piece? MALE COWORKER: It's fun. [laughter] The best part about teaching is that you get to eat these maple syrup cookies for free. LYZ: Dude, I ate four of those. Well, I'm about to have my second one. LYZ: The best thing about teaching is the snacks that they give you. We also get free coffee, but it's not good. [laughter] There's a thing and it says coffee. I don't know what it is. LYZ: What is it?? Bye! See ya! I was at work and I was trying to get people to talk about their favorite things or what they love about teaching and nobody wanted to be on camera. Sorry guys, but I tried. I got a couple people, so it's fine. So I think you guys will enjoy it, but-- ASH: The best thing about teaching... is... He's a teacher, so...I mean he doesn't work with me. Nah, I've got a real job. You're a teacher! I'm a teacher. Yeah, I know. My job's better than yours though. I came to Japan specifically wanting to teach, and I studied education and Japanese in college, but my first job experience wasn't exactly the best. I want to tell you something. Be strong and don't be afraid to leave an unfair position or something that isn't making you happy. Life is way too short for that. Do what's best for you and your lifestyle because it's all that matters in the end. This is Katya, follow her on Instagram. She's beautiful. KATYA: Aww! LYZ: How was your vacation? LYZ: Stop being my supervisor. Stop being my boss. BOSS: I am not your boss anymore. LYZ: Wait, what? FORMER BOSS: Because you're fired! LYZ: Noooo! [laughter] LYZ: Noooo! I thought I would give up and go home after what I had gone through with jobs and relationships in general, but I realized that I didn't have that amazing experience I wanted to have in Japan while living here yet. I wasn't ready to leave. LYZ: What is that? FRIEND: It's a panorama camera. It's weird. LYZ: 1983... Okay, so we're gonna go take some photos right now because we need our Instagrams to look amazing, so... Look at Ash! He's on the-- One day he'll be on a building and I'll be like, where'd he go? I didn't go home... I stayed. Who wants to go home with a negative outlook on Japan? I didn't want to share bad experiences with friends and family when they asked me, "How was your life in Japan?" So, I went and searched for a better life and found it after fighting through some difficult moments in my life. I'm the happiest girl alive right now because I was brave enough to go for it. If you're thinking about teaching here, even if you have zero experience, it's so worth it. You make such an impact on these students, these kids. Do you remember that one teacher in your life that you looked back on and said, "Yeah, she or he was the best teacher ever"? That's what those students will be saying years later, and it's the best feeling in the world knowing that. Here, I'll hold it. Aww, so pretty! I need a light. LYZ: What kind of light? Is that too bright? [laughs] Sorry! It works, though. Honestly, I love this new network of photographers, Instagrammers, and creatives I'm working with. It's my dream to build a community like this in Japan, but with passionate people who are working so hard to put their art out into the world. This is a new generation of creative minds. We're just taking some videos and my friend behind me is taking some shots. This is a really nice light. It's so pretty. Ooh, there's like a band playing. Yeah, that's cool! Let's go! [laughs] Ooh! Ahh! Ooh! No, my battery's dying! It hasn't stopped raining, but we're getting some good shots. I don't know if I'm supposed to be standing on this. Am I supposed to be standing on this? I look so cool when I'm blue. [singing] I'm blue, da ba dee da ba dai, da ba dee da ba dai Another thing I love about teaching here is the fact that after work, I get to do and see stuff like this: We just finished shooting, and I think I think I brought together a bromance right here. Watching them take pictures together was just so romantic. I was jealous. [laughter] Okay, I am so bad at finishing these vlogs, to be honest. I never know. I'm so exhausted when I get back home. I never wanna--I just want to get in my pajamas, take off my makeup, do my skincare stuff, and just go to bed. Today was really, really fun. I'm so glad that we were able to go out and I was able to meet my friend that I met on Instagram. She's so cute! Please check her out. I'll link everything down below and also, the amazing photographers that came with us today. I'm just so grateful to know people that have such creative minds. I love when I'm hanging out with creative people and I see their creative minds just turn on and just go at it. I think it's just so fun to see people coming up with ideas and thinking of ways of to pose, and ways to take a picture, and I don't know, it's just art. It's beautiful. I think it's the most amazing thing and to have friends like that. I hope we can do more fun projects in the future and I'm learning a lot too, and I just bought myself a gimbal. I'm like, oh my god, I need to save my money, but this was so worth it in so many ways. I am so excited to get this gimbal and use my iPhone and do some more iPhone video and photography and all that stuff with this thing. Anyway, thank you guys for watching. I'm sorry, I just took off all of my makeup. I don't even know why I'm apologizing but I look like shit right now. I'm tired, took off all my makeup I have this little thing on to hold my hair back, but I should probably take it off. Anyway, thank you guys for watching! I don't know how this video is gonna turn out. I hope that some of the comments from my co-workers were helpful in a way. A lot of my co-workers didn't want to be on camera and I understand that so I have to respect that, but I got a couple little comments about being a teacher and they were really good! Yeah, and I'll see you guys next time. Good night. Sweet dreams. Thank you for watching this video. If you liked it, give it a thumbs up, and please don't forget to follow all these amazing, talented people who went out with me to take photos today. Their information is in the link below. Don't forget to follow me on all my social media platforms for more info on my life in Japan, and I will see you next time.
