  • C: Helloo! J: Hii!

  • J: As you watch this, we're in Budapest.

  • J: Unless you're watching this post-Sunday, in which case we're probably back home

  • C: So, when we were in Malaysia, we did a whole video on Chinese Zodiac Signs

  • C: 'cause we got really into it and went to temples and saw like, you know, the monkey and the rabbit

  • C: and I was like, "Oh, I'm a rabbit." J: I'm a dragon.

  • C: And it was just like a bit of fun; we don't like 100% believe in it.

  • J: We're totally over that now. We have a new personality obsession!

  • J: This one brought to us by Stevie Boebi C: Uh-huh

  • J: Thanks, Stevie

  • C: So, the actual expert on this Color Theory is Dr. Haylor...oo, "Dr. Haylor"

  • C: Dr. Taylor Hartman J: Ph. D.

  • C: "Taylor Hartman is a psychologist and business leadership coach."

  • C: "He lives with his wife and family in Sandy, Utah."

  • J: Stop trying--!

  • J: The personalities can be broken down into four core categories, which are:

  • Red

  • Blue

  • Yellow

  • And white

  • J: And then you have a secondary characteristic. So the first one is the personality that you're born with

  • and the second one is how you move through the world

  • C: So, some people theorise that you grow into your personality like in it's more like your personal history

  • that develops who your personality is

  • C: Dr. Hartman believes that you're just born with it

  • To the point that like when you're in the womb, you have--already have a personality.

  • Like, you're either like defiant and you know what you don't wanna eat

  • through your mother's womb, already, or you're very like, easygoing

  • J: First of all, we have red.

  • J: Their motive is power.

  • They need to look good, technically; to always be right; to be respected; get approval from a select few

  • J: And they want to hide their insecurities; they want to be very productive; they want to take a leadership role

  • and they like challenging adventures

  • C: Reds are the power wielders. J: Oh.

  • C: And then the blue personality types, they're called the do-gooders.

  • And their motive is intimacy. So their needs are to be good, morally; to be understood;

  • to be appreciated and accepted.

  • And their wants are to reveal their insecurities; quality; autonomy; and security

  • J: So whites are the peacekeepers. See if this sounds like anyone you know

  • Their motive is for peace. They need to feel good inside;

  • to be allowed their own space;

  • to be respected; to have tolerance;

  • they want to withhold their insecurities;

  • be kind; have independence; and be content

  • C: Hm, sounds pretty nice.

  • And then the last colour is yellow.

  • They are described as the fun lovers.

  • Sound like anyone?

  • They wanna look good socially;

  • they wanna be noticed;

  • they wanna be praised;

  • and they want approval from the masses.

  • C: [Referring to Jessica] Those things are actually needs, not even wants

  • The next things are wants.

  • They wanna hide their insecurities; they want-- J: "Loosley"

  • C: "Loosely"!

  • C: They want happiness; freedom; and playful adventure

  • J: Oh!

  • C: OK, so can you guess what colours Jessica and I are?

  • J: I'm a yellow!

  • J: So, we thought we'd tell you all about what it's like to have a white and yellow relationship

  • Because people do often ask us, like, "How do we have a relationship where we never argue?"

  • C: Mmhm

  • J: Well... C: And we were like, "We don't know."

  • C: Until Stevie showed us this and we bought this book, we were like thinking

  • we were probably gonna get a divorce. [Drum cymbals clash]

  • J: Stop pinching my bum.

  • [Air kissing noises]

  • J: "The white and yellow relationship is described as Gentle Fun."

  • C: I think that sums us perfectly

  • J: It does! C: Gentle Fun

  • J: It does. We were supposed to film this video but instead we skipped around the room in a circle

  • J: Until Clara told us off

  • C: I'm not currently wearing any trousers because I was too hot

  • C: I don't know why that's gentle fun J: It is fun for me

  • C: Just a little bit of extra bit of information for you there

  • J: We are affable individuals seeking an easy style of interaction with limited expectations

  • J: Neither chooses to hassle the other

  • Neither's particularly clean about directing the other either

  • "They can be excellent as friends, colleagues, or parent-child."

  • "Rarely find themselves in a committed intimate relationship."

  • C: Yeah, I was surprised by that. We are an anomaly.

  • J: But our relationship is so easy.

  • J: Why wouldn't everyone want a--? C: But that's because of our secondary colours

  • C: You can't be a double-double. J: No. Stevie said so, so it must be true.

  • C: Oo, OK.

  • C: We can't have intimate relationships.

  • C: "Almost as if there is no compelling magnetism,

  • they instinctively recognise the limitations of their companionship in surviving--"

  • J: That's not true! I'm incredibly magnetically drawn to you!

  • J: All right, not everything in the book is true; just ignore that bit, OK? Ignore that.

  • J: "Whites and yellows accommodate each other."

  • J: We don't motivate each other to get stuff done.

  • J: "Perhaps they lack the ferocity or drive reds and blue innately have to light each other's fires."

  • So, personality overview: our motives are peace and fun

  • C: Mm! J: Which is lovely, I think.

  • C: Uh-huh.

  • C: Power and-- J: Wow, wait!

  • C: I know, what is happening?!

  • C: It's because we're talking about whites, so it went [sing-song voice] whiiite!

  • J: [Vocalises off-key]

  • J: That was my attempt at singing. Was it good?

  • C: That was singing? J: ...Is it not?

  • C: No J: Oh.

  • C: That was just more like an explanat--exclamation-like noise.

  • J: [Knowingly vocalises off-key]

  • C: [Laughing] Ooh, do you know--? I'm sorry, we shouldn't make fun of your deafness.

  • C: Um...back to what we were talking about

  • J: We're gonna go through the white-yellow interpersonal relationships

  • J: You are tactful

  • J: I'm tactless

  • C: Yeah, that's also very true

  • J: Peace versus fun

  • You like power and control of self, and I just want [passionately] intimacy

  • C: "Whites are concerned with developing a safe environment,

  • while yellows risk more freely for an intimate relationship."

  • "Yellows are more outgoing and their white companions remain more reserved."

  • "Whites are like cats, able to come and go comfortably on their own."

  • "Yellows are like dogs, always seeking to be noticed, petted and played with."

  • J: Pet me. C: So true.

  • J: There we go.

  • J: Although, interestingly, like I was discussing this with Stevie, I think a large part

  • of your personality can be changed the way it's presented due to things like having a disability

  • C: Yeah, definitely. And also anyway that influences your second--what your second colour is.

  • J: [Gasping] We're gonna get onto that in a minute. Right.

  • J: You like stability; I like change.

  • C: Oh, yeah, I hate change.

  • J: Yeah, she does. She gets really upset.

  • C: I'm starting a new job. Very nervous.

  • J: She's been having some temper tantrums. C: No, I haven't!

  • C: Oh, sorry.

  • J: You are reluctant, and I am engaging

  • C: Yeah...

  • J: "Whites often need coaxing from their yellow friends to try new experiences."

  • J: I think that's true. C: Yeah, I think that's true.

  • J: You are tenacious and I am easily distracted

  • C: Oh...yes. J: Like a magpie.

  • J: You feel deeply, but find expression of feelings difficult.

  • C: That is true. I've got a lot better since, like, knowing you, though,

  • at expressing my emotions.

  • J: You're a doer, I am delegator / performer. C: Indeed.

  • C: "Yellows and whites enjoy a rare capacity for tolerance and acceptance

  • that no other mixed colour combination shares."

  • C: "Both are slow to anger and quick to move on when slighted."

  • J: That's true, yeah! C: Oh, that's why we never have--we never have arguments.

  • C: And if we do, it's more like a tiff, and then we never like wanna hold in it.

  • J: You are compliant with rules, I am defiant to rules.

  • J: This is true, never met a rule I didn't wanna bend.

  • J: Don't break them, just bend them. [Drum cymbals clash]

  • J: You are forgiving, but [scary voice] you remember.

  • C: Whereas you're like you'll forgive them and then you'll forget about it.

  • J: Yeah, I have certain people in my life who aren't very good for my life

  • and who make me very upset constantly. C: Yeah.

  • J: But I still keep going back!

  • C: I'm the one that reminds you: "This person did this before and you got really upset"

  • And you're like:

  • "Did I?"

  • C: I mean, it doesn't help that you have cognitive issues J: No!

  • J: "Usually, whites are pessimists and yellows are optimists."

  • C: I would say I'm more of a realist

  • C: Right, let's move on to the... J: Right, moving on to why we need each other.

  • J: So, you (white) need me (yellow) to excite you

  • C: Yes! J: To encourage you.

  • C: Yes.

  • J: To promote activities. C: Yes, definitely.

  • J: To share a peaceful relationship. C: Aw, yes.

  • C: You try and tell me what your needs are, based on, like, kind of along the lines of what you just

  • J: Oh, my gosh. OK. C: So you know what the kind of things are.

  • J: Umm, well, I know what the top one is: I need you to calm me down.

  • J: That's... C: Uh-huh.

  • J: I need you to praise me. C: Yes.

  • J: I need... C: You look beautiful today, darling.

  • J: I need you to help me be sensitive with other people, definitely,

  • because otherwise I just can be a bit insensitive sometimes.

  • C: You need me to play with you. J: Yeah, I do! I should've put that one at the top.

  • J: I need a play-mate.

  • C: You need me to be tolerant of you

  • J: Yeah. C: You did sort of say that in a way, like, to an extent--

  • J: I am quite irritating.

  • C: You need to share confidences with me.

  • J: So, now we move on to secondary colours

  • C: And that's why I'm like, "Oh, I quite like this whole colour thing."

  • C: If it was just like, "You're a white;" "You're a yellow," I'd be like, "This is bulls***."

  • J: Interestingly, between us, we have all four of the colours

  • You are a white, but you're also a red.

  • That means your motive is power

  • C: Apparently, if you--once you have your two colours, there's also then a name,

  • just to complicate the matters and we're just completely thrown by that and we haven't been able to find--

  • J: It's not even in the book! C: No, it's not even in the book!

  • J: That's just what Stevie told us!

  • C: I think it's like an Americanism. J: Stevie, help us.

  • C: A white-red, like myself, is a unicorn

  • J: Woooo.

  • C: Because it's rare. J: "You need to be allowed your own space,

  • but you also need to be right."

  • J: "You need tolerance, but you also need approval from a very select few."

  • C: Mmhm. J: "To withhold your insecurities and to hide them,

  • at the same time."

  • J: Mmm. C: So if you ever see me--if you ever meet me

  • and I'm just kind of like arms folded in the background whilst Jessica's like,

  • "Hi, everybody!" and I'm like [grumpy face] - I actually probably just feel really awkward

  • J: Whilst Claudia is a unicorn, I am a Pegasus.

  • C: Woo! We're both flying horses, so that's great. J: We are, we're so special.

  • J: Weee!

  • J: So I'm a yellow-blue.

  • Which means I want to have fun, but I also want intimacy.

  • I want to look good, socially, but I also want to be good.

  • I want to be noticed, but I also want to be understood.

  • Do I?

  • I want to hide my insecurities loosely and to reveal my insecurities.

  • C: "Loosely."

  • J: I want playful adventure, but also security.

  • C: I think when you put them together like that, it really sums us up.

  • C: I love it. J: I wish we'd been sponsored by this book.

  • C: We have not been sponsored by this book.

  • [Something falls]

  • [Jessica yelps, amused]

  • [Both laugh]

  • C: Why?

  • J: A red-blue is an empress or emperor,

  • J: because that's what Stevie is. C: Uh-huh.

  • C: Blue-red is a vampire. J: Yeah, that's what Clara is.

  • J: Now, a white-yellow is a shapeshifter.

  • A blue yellow is a medusa.

  • That's my nemesis.

  • C: Oh, a white-blue is an elf. J: Yes.

  • C: We're kind of going off-topic. Anyway, the point is, as you can tell,

  • is all a bit of fun.

  • Justify your behaviours by your Chinese Zodiac;

  • your star sign... J: Myers-Briggs.

  • C: Yep, your Myers-Briggs score; your Color Code; your Harry Potter House (alligance)

  • J: Yeah. Yep, yep.

  • J: Basically, we're gonna put the link down below to the Color Code test.

  • You should take the test, find out what you are, and then get really riled up about it.

  • And then talk to all of your friend about it..

  • J: And, er - it gives you many hours of conversation

  • My God, because it was all we talked about at Summer in the City.

  • C: And it started at VidCon. J: It did.

  • J: But now we have classed all of our friends into boxes, so that's good!

  • And now we're doing it to you, too: our internet friends.

  • J: See, spreading it.

  • C: Are you a unicorn like me? High five! J: Or a Pegasus, like me? Double five!

  • C: Yeah, with your wings. J: Is that high ten? High ten!

  • J: Are you a unicorn-Pegasus couple?

  • J: Please tell me if someone is a unicorn-Pegasus couple. C: Oh, yeah!

  • J: Bye, everyone, thank you so much for coming to listen to our ramblings and staying 'til the end.

  • J: Good job! C: Hope you enjoyed the video; we apologise deeply.

  • J: If you'd like to become part of our little family and a channel member,

  • all you have to do is hit the JOIN button down below
