In a normal year, teenagers around the country 2
would be getting ready for high school prom. 3
But there's no prom to be had this year. 4
However, some families are coming up with 5
some creative ways to keep this right of passage alive. 6
This student turned her tears into cheers, 7
after her high school prom was canceled 8
because of the pandemic. 9
When my prom got canceled my heart just kinda dropped, 10
'cause I'd been fantasizing and thinking about it 11
since I was just a little girl. 12
But Natalie Reese decided 13
she's go to prom anyway. 14
The events location, her own home in Danville, California. 15
She invited her parents and her sisters. 16
And I was like that's awesome 17
because I'm missing my formal too. 18
To get ready, Natalie glammed up with makeup 19
and styled her hair. 20
Putting on her lace gown made her feel like a princess. 21
Natalie and her family hit the dancefloor 22
and she recorded the event on TikTok. 23
That was a blast. 24
We had so much fun. (laughing) 25
So we got all dressed up and Lara and I 26
just took cues from the girls. 27
The videos now have, 28
can you believe this, 30 million views. 29
So Natalie created a campaign asking everyone 30
to put on their own virtual prom. 31
I got hundreds and hundreds of videos of people 32
dressed up from all around the world dancing. 33
