“Caustic” is the term that refers to the pattern light makes when reflected or refracted

by a curved surface.

It looks like this.

But the computation required for this is often too immense for real time graphics so they

had to use path tracing.

Which leads to this page.

Path tracing is a realistic lighting algorithm that simulates light bouncing around a scene.

It supports diffuse, mirrored, and glossy surfaces.

But here's where it get's really interesting.

The shadows and direction of the light changes as you do it.
