I am now outside my studio And, in fact, I have been kept away from it about one week and a half since workers have been renovating the whole space. So the truth is I haven't seen this space yet. I haven't seen what they did to my beloved studio. I'm a bit worried, to be honest, but I'm also excited. The studio definitely needed a few upgrades or fixing, at least. I'll tell you more about this later, but for now... let's just go inside and see what they did. Whoa. Oh, hey. Let's just turn the lights on and I'll share my feelings and my emotions with you guys. Wah ha ha So first of all, this is going to sound very lame, but I gotta say it. It looks much bigger. So you probably want to know exactly what the renovation has renovated. Fair enough. The walls, this one, this one, that one over there. They basically added an extra layer on top Also, I've got those brand new windows that properly insulate. Thanks to those windows and the fact the walls have been re-insulated, sound should be better. I should be more isolated from the street nearby. Also, over there, there used to be the big, you know, black and white photograph-ee from The Wire, but it's gone. The floor. Completely redone. Now I've got this super-clean, smooth surface on which my tripod should be running smoothly. Whaaaay The ceiling. Clean, white smooth surface with this -- one, two, three, four lightings which are specifically made for shooting videos. You see, there's no flicker at all, and if I were to shoot this in slow motion, it would be the exact same. So those are just amazing. Cleaner space, less clutter So a mind that is more free to think about the future. That's what I think, anyway. The space is now ready to be transformed So this is where all the pens, the paper, the tacks, and the [indistinct] is going to stand. This always has been, and always will be, the cooking side of the studio, but this is going to be the making side. Since making has grown so much on my channel, I will dedicate a nice space to it. And behind you... hold on a second... This wall I'm going to build myself a nice little desktop, so that I can edit or whatever I just want to do on my computer which is mostly answering email these days. I think it's going to be better since it's going to be with access to direct sunlight. In the future, I don't find myself lacking vitamin D. And I'm serious, heh. And before you ask, I will have - at some point - to redo my whole kitchen. It's going to be bad-ass, efficient, smart. And it's also going to be stupid at some point, cuz otherwise it's not fun. The cooking space will have to be kept for later, since first I need to put all the tools, all the machines on this wall and to set up the desk on this wall 'cause otherwise there's no way I could be working or making any other video with the mess that is actually in the studio. So, let's head to the hardware store and get everything that I need to start making stuff. And we'll make a quick pit-stop at Ikea, because I know nobody on earth, that while renovating, wouldn't stop at Ikea. Let's face it. You might be wondering why we went through renovation. I didn't choose to do it. I was forced to do it. The building in which I have my studio at the moment suffers from both a structural problem and also a humidity problem. Those two major problems needed to be addressed. They also needed to address the problems within my studio itself. In the past week, they have been fixing ceiling, walls, the floor. If I were not to use this God-given opportunity to improve my space, I would be stupid. I'm going to build a better studio/kitchen/workshop. This looks everything but safe. Let's head back to 'le studio' as slowly as possible... using roads where police don't take any coffees. So it's sponsor time. This video is sponsored by SkillShare. SkillShare is an online learning community for creators with more than 25,000 classes in design, business, and of course, cooking. You know I am a very curious, particular Frenchman. I absurdly adore learning and SkillShare is just the perfect place for that. So, at the moment, I'm following two classes, one about making Italian gelato, you know, that sweet Italian ice cream. The delightful icy treat made famous by a certain movie. And the 2nd one is about a popular 3-D modeling software. SkillShare has a pretty affordable premium membership that just allows you to join any classes you like. If you want to give it a try, the first hundred of you that will use the link in the description box down below will get two months free trial. Thank you, SkillShare, for sponsoring this video. I'm in the process of painting this wall with a dark grey tint. I've always been facing this dilemma, where do I store all my pens, paints, paper? That will be here. Now, I've got a full metal cabinet where I can store all my supplies. Locked in place. I'm going to line these walls with eucalyptus plywood 'cause I wanted something warmer, cosier, and also that would make this space a bit more zen. Now, of course, this is.. Ah. somebody is doing work. I hate when people are doing renovation. Thank God. The wood paneling is now over. It looks beautiful, I mean, I did that so it's basically auto-congratulation. Anyways, it needs shelves to be able to store all my tools, all my making gear. Two more to go. Ehhr! The floor might be freshly painted. It doesn't make it even. There are hills and valleys on this floor. But that's why they invented adjusting feet. ..all the hills and valleys too.. Tada. Look at all this storage space. ssseuuuu Well, so guys, that's it. I hope you enjoyed this renovation video. In the next one, because there will be a next one, I need to address the tool section, I need to address the desk station. but I also need to set up, like, a video gear big-ass cabinet and, obviously I would also need to clean up the whole space. Otherwise there's no way for me to keep on making videos. We'll catch up in the next one. Bye bye. Salut.
