Hi, I'm Jason Clinton, and I'm one of the hundreds who worked on GNOME 3.

GNOME 3 is better because, we more deeply integrate with your hardware.

For example, if the operating system indicates that suspend is known to

work on your laptop or desktop, we show a suspend option in the user menu;

otherwise, we show power off.

If the operating system indicates that you are using a touchpad,

we show only those options which your device supports.

And, since GNOME 3 can benefit from hardware acceleration,

we automatically detect that that is working and change to Fallback Mode if necessary.

This is one the many ways that we've made GNOME 3 better.
