  • R: Burger King fondue?!

  • R: Okay, I'm going to try the fondue.

  • R: Hey guys! I'm here with Melodee!

  • and today we decided to go to a Burger King.

  • M: Right smack in the center of Shibuya Center Gai.

  • R: Right in the middle of Shibuya!

  • R: They have a teriyaki burger, hot chicken sandwich...

  • Oh, and a Whopper! Like a regular Whopper?

  • M: They say Whopper here like "Wappaa."

  • R: Wappaa!!

  • R: Do they have hot dogs in America now?

  • M: I don't know, maybe.

  • R: This would be, I'm assuming like melon soda?

  • M: Yeah, melon cream soda.

  • R: They definitely don't do this in America. Melon soda.

  • R: So we're going to get Burger King cheese fondue.

  • M: All right! Let's do it!

  • R: High class us.

  • Cashier: Do you want a cheeseburger or hamburger?

  • R: Cheeseburger.

  • C: Any toppings?

  • R: Uhh... ketchup and mustard.

  • C: Mustard already comes on it.

  • R: Oh! Just that is fine.

  • C: That's fine? R: Yep!

  • R: In Japan you can't usually customize your food order very much.

  • Especially if it's a sandwich, you can't usually tell them you know,

  • like take off the tomato, or add onions or something like that.

  • So I was always curious about whether they did that at restaurants like McDonald's or Burger King.

  • But apparently they actually do here!

  • And they have a whole little list that you can choose from that shows you

  • all the toppings and sauces you can get on your burgers.

  • These places actually usually have more than one floor, which is really cool.

  • Ah! And it's almost empty up here!

  • So for all of this, it was like $14,

  • which is a little expensive for Burger King,

  • but I mean, this is Japan, too.

  • M: I have high hopes for the fondue, so let's hope it'll be good!

  • R: So it looks just like an American cheeseburger...

  • slightly underwhelming in appearance.

  • But I like Burger King, so hopefully this is really good.

  • Japanese people actually usually use the plastic to pick up burgers,

  • but I'm not used to that, so I'll just eat it my normal American way.

  • M: How is it?

  • R: The meat tastes different,

  • but I can still taste the smoky grill flavor

  • that comes from Burger King, which I really like.

  • M: What about the bread?

  • Because bread in Japan is so soft and fluffy.

  • Pretty much the same?

  • R: The bread is very similar.

  • R: I think it's just the meat. It must be the meat they make it with.

  • This tastes... less meaty than in America.

  • M: Maybe for Japanese people, since they like it a little less meaty?

  • [notation] American patty: 100% beef Japanese patty: 100% beef + egg & wheat fillers

  • R: So far here in Japan I have yet to come across a very delicious burger.

  • M: Oh, really? Oh, interesting!

  • Have you had like Moss Burger and stuff?

  • R: Yeah, I think this is a very similar flavor to the meat patties they use.

  • M: I see.

  • R: So I guess... it's a standard Japanese hamburger.

  • R: It's all right.

  • M: So I'm going to go ahead and eat my teriyaki burger.

  • This is my first time here. Here we go!

  • M: It's delicious! R: Oh, great!

  • M: The mayo and the teriyaki sauce are super sweet, actually.

  • R: Oh, that sounds good.

  • M: It's really good! I mean, we don't have this in the States, so...

  • Teriyaki in Japan is really big here.

  • It's good! I like it a lot!

  • R: Something I've always thought was a little strange here is their napkins here in Japan

  • are like less papery, less cloth-y, and more wax paper-like.

  • M: That's true.

  • R: It's kind of hard to wipe your hands with.

  • But they make up for it because they have those wet wipes you can get everywhere.

  • You get these at a lot of places,

  • and I carry them around in my purse if I don't use them

  • because I know I'll need them at some point, like this,

  • when I just get this little wax paper thing.

  • So good thing I have these with me!

  • Hopefully this'll be good!

  • Japan doesn't do a lot of cheese, so I'm a little curious what their cheese fondue is going to taste like.

  • Oh, it's really good!

  • M: Is it thick? What does it taste like?

  • R: Omg, I dropped it on my pants.

  • M: Oh no!!

  • R: I'm not even classy enough to eat at Burger King...

  • R: It's like a creamy cheese. It's a really, really creamy cheese.

  • M: So I guess it's a fairly thick texture, kind of.

  • Maybe because I left it for a little bit.

  • Here we go!

  • It's "noukou." Very thick and rich.

  • R: Yeah!

  • They had pictures of people eating it with burgers, so maybe I should try that.

  • Burger King cheese fondue burger...

  • what am I doing...

  • M: Pretty good?

  • R: Yeah, it's okay.

  • It doesn't NEED cheese fondue.

  • M: Doesn't necessarily need it.

  • R: Maybe it's not something you necessarily have to add to your cheeseburger, but sure!

  • So, that was our Burger King meal with fondue.

  • M: It was really good!

  • R: It was surprisingly good.

  • So I guess if you want, come to Japan sometime and try out their Burger King cheese fondue!

  • M: Yeah! Come here and check it out!

  • R: All right, thanks for watching!

  • Both: Bye!!

R: Burger King fondue?!
