MR. STERLING: Spread the line over there.
TROY LANDRY: I really enjoy being with old-timers.
NARRATOR: King of the swamp Troy Landry
has invited his old buddy Mr. Sterling
out for a day of gator hunting.
Let's go buddy.
Come on.
--at over 80 years old, he's still one of the top fisherman
in the area.
No, this is good.
I don't need it.
Been knowing him all my life and, I'm happy to know him.
I love the man.
Woo.
He's forgotten more than I know about hunting and fishing.
NARRATOR: Today, Troy hopes to learn
a new technique to help him with a common swamp problem--
bait bandits.
--in them swamps is looking for something to eat.
Raccoons, possums, chicken hawks, hoot owls.
And I want to learn how to float that bait and fish like that.
MR. STERLING: All you gotta do is just run it through, OK?
TROY: Uh-huh.
MR. STERLING: I showed Troy how to float your bait.
I've been having great success with it for all these years.
TROY LANDRY: All right.
Yeah.
I'mma let you do that.
I'm just showing you.
That's good. Excellent.
TROY LANDRY: Good good?
I'm gonna tie this line here where my Troy
might catch a gator here.
NARRATOR: With the bait tied to the float in the water,
Mr. Sterling anchors the line to a tree.
All right, buddy.
TROY LANDRY: I just love hanging around with Mr. Sterling.
It's not the gators we catch.
I enjoy hunting gators with him.
But when he's in the boat with me or we're
together somewhere--
But he's funny.
I just enjoy being around him.
NARRATOR: With the bait set, the master and the student
double back to see if they already
have a beast on the line.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
MR. STERLING: Ooh!
[SNARL]
TROY LANDRY: Woo!
[GUNSHOT]
Yeah.
Yeah.
--has been around for so long, I think he learned how to adapt.
