I want to be clear here: opioids can be effective, appropriate therapy, but they should be prescribed with great care.

Pronunciation Tips
1.Want to: Linking. Repetitive /t/ sound in the end of “want” and the beginning of “to,” so you just have to pronounce it once.
2.Opioid: Two parts, opi-oid /ˈoʊ.piˌɔɪd/. Notice the difference in pronunciation of “o” here.
3.opioids can be effective: The speaker highlights the word “can” by putting more stress here. She raises her intonation on the word “can.”
4.Appropriate: Four parts: a-ppro-pri-ate /əˈproʊ.pri.ət/. The third and fourth part should be linked together.
5.Prescribed: /prɪˈskraɪbd/ Notice the pronunciation of “e” in prescribe is /ɪ/, not /e/. Aside from that, there is no /ə/ sound between /b/ and /d/ in prescribed.
6.but they should be prescribed with great care: the speaker highlights the word “Prescribed” by raising her intonation. When you want to highlight a word, gradually raise your intonation before it, and the intonation should be the highest on the word. After the highlighted word, you should lower the intonation.
