“By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination.” - Christopher Columbus
Hello Voicetube world! Welcome to the Pronunciation Challenge! My name is Hugh and I’m back for another episode! In today’s episode, we have something interesting and also something I’m sure a lot of you listeners can relate to! Today’s episode is about distractions! Phones, social media and YouTube are all taking up all our mental energy in this day and age. To be honest, I think the majority of people these days are addicted to their phones, including myself. I have to turn my phone to silent mode in order to work, otherwise, I’ll get nothing done! We don’t want to admit it and say we have it under control, but most of us don’t. It’s really tough to give it up altogether but perhaps there are ways we can keep it under some control. Let’s get to the featured sentence first before we find out how we can overcome all these distractions!
Today’s featured sentence:

OUTRO
Fighting off distractions has been a struggle for me for the longest time. It’s actually quite funny how I came across this video because I’ve been following the same steps in this video to overcome all the distractions of life. I’ll give you a quick run-down of my morning routine. (Yes, you should have a morning routine) If you start work at, let's say, 9am, then I would suggest you go to bed earlier (that’s already hard enough, I know) so that you can wake up an hour or two earlier. People are usually sleeping at this time so they can’t distract you. If you’re working in both North America and Asia, then I suggest you don’t even look at your phone when you wake up. The next step would be to fold your blanket and take a cold shower! This trains your willpower and discipline. Then write a check-list of things you have to do for the day. I could go on and on but starting your day right is so important! These are just some of the steps that were covered in the video (I added folding your blanket and taking a cold shower). I'm finding these really helpful for my productivity so I hope it works for you as well! Good luck! I know you can do this!
Alright, that about does it for today’s episode. Get those recordings in if you haven’t done so already. Hit me up on Instagram if you want to keep up with what I'm doing outside of the Pronunciation Challenge @hughtran_. Until the next episode, see ya!
