Intro:
Hi, Voicetubers, Tera here. Do you know how much food is wasted every year in the world? According to the Food Waste Index Report 2021, released by the UN Environment Programme, UNEP, in 2019, more than 100 billion tons of food was wasted in the world. In other words, 17% of them ended up being in the trash can. "Food waste" has been an important environmental issue that received lots of debates and discussions for years, and that is because food waste is more than food waste itself. It can actually cause global warming. Check out the video to understand more about the situation in the US, and then we’ll be discussing more on this topic. But before that, let’s deal with our featured sentence.

Tips:
mission: two syllables with the stress on the first one. The vowel in "mi" is a short /ɪ/, "mi". "ssion" is composed of the fricatize /ʃ/ and /ən/, "ssion". Again, "mi-ssion".
rescuing: three syllables with the stress on the first one as well. The root of this word is "rescue". "re" is /rɛ/, a short vowel /ɛ/, and then cue is pretty much like /k/ + letter "u", "cue". Lastly, put the original "ing" in the back of it, making it "res-cu-ing".
bonus: two syllables with the stress on the first one, also. "Bo" sounds the same as "bow", when you take a "bow". "nus" has a reduced vowel, which is pronounced as /nəs/. Altogether, "bo-nus".

In order to deal with food waste problems, several companies have been putting effort into it. For example, the Danish company "Too Good To Go", collects food that is still left before the stores close and sells it to people at a relatively low price. Since the left food should be different from day to day, it also has an interesting bonus that you will not know what’s inside this "lucky bag". Another example comes from the convenience stores here in Taiwan. As the first convenience store that offers a 30% off when the food is near the expiration date, Family Mart successfully reduced 3000 tons of food, equal to about 80 thousand carbon dioxide emissions. 7-11 is also now joining this policy. Just take what you'll eat, and eat what you take. Feed your body, not the trash can. If everyone does their parts to waste less, it would make a great impact.
