Intro:
“HI, WHAT CAN I GET YOU?”
“Well…I’d love a venti iced hazelnut latte, to go, thank you.”
“Ah, and can I get a double shot…decaf also, please?”
“SURE THING!”

What’s up, Voicetubers, if you haven’t met me before, I’m your new host, Tera, apparently, a coffeeholic. For me, a bad day with good coffee is better than a good day without it. In today’s video, we’ll be talking about how much money you would save by buying less coffee. Financial pundits claim that you can save lots of money if you stop buying coffee every day, while some people refute this opinion. Is that making sense to you? Check this video out and see how they support their own views, but before that, let’s first take a look at today's featured sentence.

Featured sentence: Even with this math, it would take 14 years to have enough money to pay off the average American student loan debt.

[I’ll say it slowly again.]

Even with this math, it would take 14 years to have enough money to pay off the average American student loan debt.

Tips:
average: although it seems that there are three syllables in this word, when we’re speaking, we usually take only two, which means that the third letter "e" will be changed into a "schwa" sound "ə", making it sound minor. Thus, it would be more like "ave-rage" than "a-ve-rage".
loan: one syllable. The vowel "oa" should be pronounced as "oʊ", remember not to drop the "ʊ" as well as the final nasal consonant "n". Again, loan.
debt: what’s so special about this word is that the "b" is silent. Similar pronunciation rules also happen in "doubt", the "b" in both of the words is a silent letter. Let me say it one more time, "debt" and "doubt".

Vocabulary:
average (adj.)/(n.)/(v.) KK [ˋævərɪdʒ] IPA /ˈæv.ɚ.ɪdʒ/
def: a ratio that summarizes or represents the general significance of a set of unequal values
平均的、平均數、算出...的平均
As a self-motivated person, she reads on average three books a week.
身為一個自律積極的人,她每週平均看了三本書。

loan (n.) KK [lon] IPA /loʊn/
def: money lent at interest; words that borrowed from other languages
借出、貸款、借字
Both the words "debt" and "doubt" are loans from Old French.
“Debt” 和 “doubt” 都是古法文的借字。

debt (adj.) KK [dɛt] IPA /det/
債、借款
def: a state of being under obligation to pay or repay someone or something in return for something received
Losing a stable job, he is unable to pay off his debt.
他因丟了穩定的工作而無力償還債務。

Outro:
Well…if you’re also a coffee lover like me, life would be so bitter if there’s no coffee, right? However, I do agree with some of the concepts in this video. By saving a small amount of money every day and investing it, we can indeed accumulate wealth. Although it doesn’t sound feasible for most people to possess a million dollars when they retire by doing so, it’s true that you’ll be provided with a chance to earn extra money once you use them wisely. For example, the stock market, bonds, real estates, mutual funds…there’re a lot of investments. Even with a little money, you can assess the stock market by buying odd lots. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t spend any additional money. If a cheesecake, a sip of hot milk tea, or a small trip to another city can make your day, then just go do it. After all, every day that you live is a special occasion, right?

How about you? Do you have any tips that assist you in saving money? Leave a comment if you would like to share your money management with me after hitting the recording button below. I'd very much love to have a talk on that topic with you. But first, let me grab a coffee. See you!
