  • Hi. I’m Lorie Marrero, creator of the Clutter Diet book and on-line program and today’s

  • Clutter Video Tip is about what I callduotasking.” Now, weve all heard of multitasking and

  • weve probably also heard that multitasking doesn’t work [POP], and that’s true. Many

  • studies have shown that when we ask our brain to process two things at the same time we

  • are actually less effective at both of those tasks. So when youre trying to read your

  • e-mail and carry on a coherent conversation with someone on the phone at the same time

  • that is not going to work. But this word that I made up, duotasking, is something that does

  • work. So here’s my definition of duotasking. Elegant pairs of tasks that can be done simultaneously

  • with no negative effects. So you might set one task in motion to operate independently

  • from the other or the task might require very little thought or attention. So an example

  • would be walking on your treadmill while you work on a laptop. And I just made a video

  • about that, that you can see. Also you might be driving while youre listening to some

  • audio content like audio books or pod casts or recorded teleclasses. [POP] You can also

  • clean while youre talking on the phone. That’s why I’m wearing my headset right

  • now. A headset is a very important productivity tool. You can do lots of things while you

  • talk on the phonestraighten up your house or whatever. And you also can use a crock

  • pot to cook your dinner while you are working all day. [POP] Now, what do all of those things

  • have in common? Planning. This is why Brian Tracy always says that every minute spent

  • in planning saves you 10. That is an amazing return on your investment of time. So when

  • you plan ahead and you download your audio content to bring with you in the car, you

  • think ahead to get the right thing put in the crock pot before you leave the house,

  • all of those things, those duotasks, can save you lots of time and make you much more efficient.

  • [POP]

  • So I have a great duotasking opportunity for you. Every month we have a free teleclass

  • for everybody that is about various lifestyle topics such as interior design or money or

  • happiness. And these are all friends of mine who are out there in the expert author/speaker

  • world, and I am delighted to share their content with you. We have registration for that all

  • the timeyou can see the next class always at clutterdiet.com/teleclass. And also you

  • can access the archives of all of those recordings in our Member area. Now, anybody can be a

  • member of our program free for two weeks. So you can get in there and access that audio

  • page and see all of those recordings and everything else we have to offer, including help directly

  • from our expert team of organizers. You can find out more about that at clutterdiet.com/learnmore.

  • See you next time, and may you always be happy and grateful for having more than enough.
