The Food and Drug Administration sending a stern warning to the makers of a popular hand sanitizer, the FDA says pure L is making unproven health claims.

In the warning letter issued this month to the makers of the popular hand sanitizer Pure L, the FDA documents product claims Maurin line with a pharmaceutical drug that an over the counter antiseptic like Purell reduces student absenteeism and may be effective against viruses such as the Ebola virus, Noro virus and influenza, the FDA says in its warning letter.

It is currently not aware of any adequate and well controlled studies demonstrating that the maker of pure L Go Joe Industries told NBC 50 news in a statement quote, We have begun updating relevant website and other digital content as directed by the FDA, and are taking staffs to prevent a re occurrence.

The warnings surprising news to those who work in health care, like Mackenzie Lay, who uses hand sanitizer often 4 to 5 times a day.

Often I work as a phlebotomist, though requests I have to use the Centers for Disease Control still recommends hand sanitizers for patients and providers saying quote, alcohol based hand sanitizers are the most effective products for reducing the number of germs on the hands of healthcare Providers.

And the makers of Pure also pointing out that the FDA warning letter took no issue with the safety of the products or the manufacturing process.
