Now this is a Pentium based budget gaming PC, and in 2019 you may think they're opting for a two course system isn't exactly a great idea, after all, with aimed his rise and line up offering great value for money, it's getting harder to recommend Intel at this lower price point.

Unless, of course, you want to assemble a secondhand system.

However, unlike the Pentiums of previous generations, this build features a hyper threaded G 5400.

So while we've only got to cause, the fourth threads should still help us out in some situations.

But is a Pentium build really worth it these days?

And are there any reasons why you might want to use a PC like this?

First, let's talk about the specs.

You may have noticed that I'm using a so called mining motherboard here.

The M s ite be 360 f pro.

The reason for that is because the sort of boards can be found very cheaply now, maybe because the whole mining craze has died down.

Nonetheless, this still has all the basic functions you need to use it in a regular PC, including a standard PC.

I just wanted to bring up the motherboard in case you saw and wondered why it had space for 18 graphics cards to pair with the dual court 3.7 gigahertz Pentium Golgi 5400.

I've decided on a radio on our X 5 70 although the GTX 16 50 just released and I'm keen to check out, I've read that it's a little disappointing, considering the Rx here, despite its age, is still the better performer.

It's also very well priced these days, and I think it's the sort of thing that would pair nicely with the Pentium.

This is actually the as rock version, which was an unexpected find.

She has rock a better known for their mother boards, and I didn't even know they made GP use.

Turns out they've been around for a while but have only recently been introduced slowly.

Might I add to the European market?

So let's get into the tests.

Is a build like this worth it in 2019?

Well, after running Cinna Venture 15 you can see that while the multiple result falls short of quad core chips like the Rise and 5 1400 even the ancient court too extreme by just a tiny bit, it excels in single call performance and will produce better scores than, say, on I 5 46 70 k or the aforementioned rising 5 1400 overall CPU performance alone isn't too bad.

I edited this video with it, and while it's obviously quite a bit slower than my usual set up, it's not a chip that is impossible to use.

You can still run Premiere Pro and Photoshopped just fine.

Just expect to wait a little bit longer when rendering or exporting your HD creations.

I think it's still a good chip for the money.

It's just that there are better options for not much more money.

So it's time for the games.

The results here actually surprised me.

This Pentium is still quite plucky and determined, despite the fact that occasionally it will be maxed out usage wires, even when paired with the Rx 5 70 In some cases, though, it can still be the other way round.

I started with Battlefield five and let me just say that I've been picking up what you've been putting down.

Most of you would rather see the results in static format displayed on screen.

So I've gone back to that method, and color coded them for a nice change to battle.

Food is more CPU intensive, and it shows here.

Although this action packed tank level ran fine most of the time, there were moments where by the frame rate pardon, the pun tanked.

This was especially apparent for a few seconds at the start of the level, and it happened again when, say, an explosion happened in two places at once.

The G 5400 was far from running maxed out bo.

It certainly did better than I thought.

Although Fallout 76 is generally regarded as, well, not very good and got slated in the reviews.

I quite like it, and it's a good one to test, as it can be quite demanding on specific hardware, more notably as faras graphics cards are concerned.

Despite this, we retained at least 60 F.

S a 10 80 p most of the time, with the medium settings on average on, there weren't too many frame drops here either.

I was sure things will be worse than this again, but the game was very playable.

Overall combat based situations may change these figures, but I ran around the map causing sorts of trouble, and things stayed pretty steady throughout.

Don't get me wrong.

There were occasions when the frame rate dropped below 60 but it didn't stay there for very long, and overall it was a pretty good experience.

Now, just cause for was an interesting one.

Although more reliant on a decent graphics card, it seems that the results differ quite a bit.

When I began the opening level, the frame rate hovered around 66 frames per second, but gradually making my way up the mountain meant that we lost a few frames along the way.

A prime example of this is this part of the game here, where the frame rate dropped down to 50 on average, with some bigger dips into lower figures.

I've used in our X 5 70 before, and I don't remember this sluggish sort of feeling that's going on.

So I'm going to have to put it down to the process.

Sir, things pick up again when just out exploring the massive map.

But the fact that this open world is so vast may mean performance could change significantly depending on where you are.

Surprisingly metro Exodus probably one of the best looking and most demanding games to come out.

In recent times, the CPU wasn't gasping for air in this post apocalyptic world Here, a 10 80 p medium is setting that I found to be universally beneficial.

Throughout all of today's tests, the game performed okay.

60 FBS may be possible if you lower the settings a little more on perhaps the resolution scale or two.

But as far as the endgame benchmark test is concerned, you'll probably be hovering around the 50 f p s mark.

Actual gameplay may differ, but even so I was quite pleased with the figures on screen here, and I didn't expect us to see this sort of result again.

The hyper threading no doubt helps, as I can imagine a G 30 to 58 being able to do this, though, of course, as per tradition, that will be tested again later in the year, along with the 7 50 t I.

But I'm getting distracted because we must now move on to shadow of the Tomb Raider.

It's actually put the most strain on the process of which was running at 100% usage almost constantly and in fact caused a few issues with the game itself.

For instance, the audio didn't know if it was coming or going, and occasionally I'd get a snippet of birds squawking between the periods of silence.

It's interesting because the frame rate remained pretty steady on paper.

It's just those weird sound glitches and occasional missing textures that gave me the feeling that this title didn't quite like what it was running on So far.

This is the only time I've experienced such a problem.

But it is a problem nonetheless, especially if you decide to go for a chip like this in The Witch of Three.

Both the CPU and GPU seemed pretty evenly matched in the result.

Again at medium wasn't too bad, according to FRAPH CE, the North 0.1% low indicated some static, and I felt the occasional drop has explored Novi Grad here for about 20 minutes.

Other than that, things seemed generally okay, but this isn't older game.

It can still give some modern components trouble, though, and it's always worth checking out, considering it's just one of those games that a lot of people will still be playing.

I should also mention that both the graphical options and post processing options here were set to medium, with hair works and sharpening turned off as well as any advanced anti alias ING solutions.

Despite high CPU usage of watchdogs, too, as well, stutter was fairly minimal for the first minute or so, when you jump into the game, it will feel unplayable.

The frame rate will be all over the place and I couldn't figure out why.

But it seems that patients is the best solution to this problem on you guessed it.

We used medium settings once again where things run okay and just tearing around San Francisco granted us at least 60 F.

P s on average, with respectable percentile figures as well.

It seems this to core Pentium is still a decent gamer, even if it does fall slightly short in productivity.

Finally, it's pub G again, that is a world way performance wise compared to how it ran it.

Launch.

It's a little friendlier toward lover end hardware these days, and that shows here now.

The onscreen figures don't include the moment I jumped out of the plane at the start because there's always that still remains a bit jittery over.

Although the result was pretty good, guess what this was.

Medium settings.

It's a sweet spot, but I have no doubt that some games could manage high settings just fine on this set up.

So is a painting build worth it these days?

Well, personally, I'd still go for a rise in in 2019 even if it's a treat rising 3 1200 just for those extra physical cause, an excellent platform support.

I know most people tend to come to that conclusion, but as I said before, it really is hard to recommend Intel at this price point.

If, however, you are a fan of teen Blue and a MD isn't going anywhere near your PC case, then remember that this CPU is still capable if we forget about the competition momentarily.

And I think a card like the Rx 5 70 is a great pairing for it.

There will be instances where the GPU bottlenecks the CPU and vice versa, though, but I think you're going to get that in most situations on.

In the grand scheme of things, these two really do go quite well together, especially if you're looking for a gaming rig that doesn't cost too much.

And 11 51 Bold also still has great upgrade potential, too.

So if you wanted to get this well, you saved up for saying I five by seven or even on my nine, then you can rest easy knowing that you can still play games in the meantime, so there we have it.
