  • McMunn and I've been helping people for over 20 years now to get the job of their dreams,

  • and in this particular video, we are going to work on how to create a winning CV. I am

  • also going to give you a number of downloadable CV and Resume templates that you simply fill

  • in the blanks. So, it’s important you watch these tips from beginning to end and then

  • download the CV templates that you can use to create a brilliant CV. Also, please make

  • sure you SUBSCRIBE to the channel by clicking the red button below this video. That way

  • you won't miss out on any of the free training resources that I'm uploading on a weekly basis.

  • And also, if you like the content and the free downloadable CV templates that I'm giving

  • you, I would very much appreciate it if you gave the video a thumbs up. So, a quick one

  • on those downloadable templates. I am going to give you six CV and Resumé templates that

  • you simply download and then you fill in the blanks based on your own expertise and experiences.

  • Now there are some important tips that you need to know before you fill out your CV template.

  • And let's get straight into them. So, three tips for writing a brilliant CV that is guaranteed

  • to get you noticed. Number one - you have to make sure that your CV matches the job

  • description. So, make your CV match the job description and I’ll teach you how to do

  • that in a simple way in a second, because what a lot of people do is they create one

  • CV, they don't keep it updated and they submit it for every single job they are applying

  • for and then they wonder why they don't get invited to interview. Well, I want to make

  • sure that you stand out from the crowd. The next one, make sure you load your CV with

  • powerful keywords and phrases. I'm going to give you a list of eight keywords and phrases

  • that I recommend you insert in your CV to ensure you stand out. Now also, this is a

  • great tip but one that a lot of people fail to follow. It's good news. You have to keep

  • your CV short and simple. Put yourself in the shoes of the employer. They are probably

  • going to get scores of CVs for every single job that is advertised. And the last thing

  • they need to do is to sift through 20, 30, 40 or even 100 CVs that are four or five pages

  • long. Your CV just needs to be a couple of pages, but it needs to be loaded with relevant

  • information. So, let's have a look at those tips in detail. Number one: make sure that

  • your CV matches the job description. So, let's for argument's sake, say that you were applying

  • for a customer service assistant role, there usually becomes a job description and person

  • specification for each job advert. So, if we look at this one on the left, it says there

  • that you are passionate about retail. Therefore, when you fill out the key skills and attributes

  • section of your CV, make sure you say something that matches that. And that might be “I

  • am passionate about working in retail and understand the importance of delivering quality

  • customer care”, if you will. Another part of the job description, it says that you have

  • to bedriven to achieve results through determination and commitment’. Well, then

  • you would say on your CV “I have a proven track record in delivering company targets

  • and key goals.” Another example – ‘Maintaining excellent store standards.’ What you would

  • write? “I have great attention to detail and a passion for maintaining store standards.”

  • And then finally, it says ‘I have to be able to deal with customers in a friendly

  • and positive manner.’ And I would put on my CV “I am able to deal with customers

  • in a friendly professional and caring manner.” So that is a really simple thing to do, but

  • it will get you noticed, I promise you when you submit your CV. Now here's those eight

  • keywords and phrases I recommend you include within your CV. You are professional, you

  • are enthusiastic, you are loyal and hardworking, you are trustworthy, you are customer-focused,

  • you are a flexible employee, you are innovative and also you are conscientious. So those are

  • the eight phrases that I recommend you put in your CV that will get you noticed. I'm

  • going to give you these CV templates very shortly that you can download, and they have

  • these phrases in them. Now keep your CV short and simple. So, it just really needs to be

  • two pages in detail and these are the sections that I recommend you include. First of all,

  • you have your name and your contact details at the top. So, I've put the address, their

  • telephone number and a contact email address, and a tip on the email address: Make sure

  • you obviously check your email on a daily basis, but it is a good email address extension.

  • So, it is just your name and then perhaps @gmail.com or @yahoo.com, you get something

  • like that. Then there is the next part, which is your personal profile or your personal

  • statement. Now, this is a very important element of the CV, because it is the first thing they

  • will read. I'm going to tell you what to put in that personal statement in a second. Then

  • you move on to the skills and achievements that you have to date. So, skills and achievements,

  • and this is where you will cross match your skills with the requirements of the job description.

  • Then your education, and then your work experience, and then finally references. That's all you

  • need on your CV. Now with regards to the references, it is OK to putReferences available upon

  • request’; however, if you go above and beyond and find someone who has agreed to give you

  • a reference, put their name down and their contact details. That is more powerful, and

  • it gives your CV greater credibility. Now a quick note on this part here, the personal

  • profile or the personal statement. Don't forget, this is the first thing they will read about

  • you and you'll notice there that I have put in those keywords and phrases. So, here's

  • a sample, and you're going to be able to download this soon. This is an example CV personal

  • statement. “I am a highly motivated administrator with over 5 yearsexperience in all areas

  • from reception management to customer care. Most recently, I've been managing the day-to-day

  • operational aspects of the busy office which include taking care of key business clients,

  • organising workloads and prioritizing tasks. I can be trusted to provide exceptional customer

  • service, both face-to-face and via the telephone whilst also assisting the business to grow

  • and improve overall sales. I'm an outstanding team player, innovative in my approach to

  • work, whilst also taking great pride in fulfilling my responsibilities for my employer. I'm flexible,

  • conscientious and trustworthy, and enthusiastic about my work. I can be relied upon to deliver

  • everything that I set out to achieve, ensuring that it is completed to a high personal standard

  • and within given timeframes.” So, if you were reading about me, if you were assessing

  • my CV, what's your impression of me? You would think: “Hey, I want to interview this person;

  • I want to get them along!” So, your personal statement has to be powerful and I'm gonna

  • give you six samples of these very soon. Now another important tip whenever you submit

  • your CV or resume, make sure you attach a simple covering letter or an email. This makes

  • sure you stand out. Now most people just submit the CV and they don't have anything attached

  • to it. You're going to be different, so you're going to make sure you stand out. So, here's

  • a sample covering letter or email. So, I’ve got the name at the top, my email address

  • and the subject, what it is the application for and then you put in there the title of

  • the job. “Dear Sir/Madam, please find attached my CV in support of my application for the

  • position of customer service assistant with your company. I believe that I possess the

  • skills, qualities and attributes required to perform the role to an exceptional standard

  • and I feel strongly that I would be a great asset to your company. I very much like the

  • opportunity to prove my skills to an interview and can be contacted on the following telephone

  • number. Yours faithfully, and then your name.” So, that will get the attention, okay? Because

  • most people won't do that, and it shows that you are keen, enthusiastic and you care. So,

  • these CV templates. So, if you would like these, and there's six of them, if you have

  • a look in the description below the video I have put a link to these downloadable CV

  • templates. Here they are. Now, don't click the link yet, because there’s something

  • else I need to tell you. So, these CVs are in a Word document, so you can download them

  • in different styles. Make sure all the skills, qualities and attributes match your particular

  • role, and then also at the end of it, and they're all just two pages, so it'll take

  • you five minutes to complete, and at the end of that document are giving you that all important

  • covering letter OK. Which is, which is really important now. Also, if you have an interview

  • coming up, so let's say you now you submit your CV you get an interview. My advice is

  • to get access to my free online interview training course. OK. Again, I've put a link

  • in the description below this video, you can go to the website PassMyInterview.com and

  • then it will take you through to my website here. It's got over 500 positive reviews on
