I'm going to show you how to open up your four by five speed graphic camera and look through the ground glass. There is a button on the back of your camera that you press down and it opens up. Very cool. A little window appears that you can actually see your image. It's going to be backwards. It's going to be upside down. That's the coolest thing about a view camera. You're kind of looking into a little world back there. You see, it opens up. Ok? This works very well. It's called a shade. So, you can actually look into that camera and focus. I also like using a hood. You might have seen in the old days photographers you have like this hood over you and it actually serves a purpose. It makes that image brighter and easier to focus. A lot of times I also use a loop back there to make sure my image is in focus on my ground glass. So the ground glass, focusing hood, closed, open. Nice easy way of looking through your camera to get the image for your composition. Ok. There's not a lot of guessing. You're going to see exactly what you want and you're going to line it up. Slow is the key word. Ok. You don't want to move fast. This isn't a fast camera. You want to make sure that that image is in focus. Ok. And, that is how you use the back and your ground glass.
