Today we're going to talk about two types of questions you need to know how to answer for English interviews. 今天我們要來介紹兩類你需要知道如何回答的英文面試問題 The first type of questions are behavioral questions. 第一類問題是行為問題 These are questions that ask about your past experiences. 這些是詢問你過去經歷的問題 Many will ask about a difficult situation and how you dealt with it. 很多是問你過去經歷的困難情境,以及你如何因應 One example of a behavioral question is: 行為問題的一個例子是: Have you ever made a mistake at work? How did you handle it? 你曾經在工作上犯錯嗎?你是怎麼處理的呢? This is the question that you heard at the start of today's video. 這是你在今天的影片一開始聽到的問題 Note the phrasing of this question: it starts with "have you ever..." 注意這個問題的措辭:它是「你是否曾經⋯⋯」 This is a common way to begin behavioral questions. 這是開啟行為問題的常見方式 Other common ways to begin these questions are: 開始這些問題其他常見的方法還有: "Tell me about a time when..." 「告訴我你之前⋯⋯的情況」 "Give me an example of..." 「給我一個你⋯⋯的例子」 or, "Describe a time when..." 或者,「描述你曾經⋯⋯」 They might also follow up with "How did you handle it?" like our first example did. 他們也可能接著問「你是怎麼處理的?」像我們的第一個例子那樣 Now, let's look at another example. 現在讓我們看另一個例子 Give me an example of a time you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work. 舉個例子,說明過去你在職場上如何說服他人接受你的觀點 When I was working as an editor for VT magazine, 當我擔任 VT 雜誌的編輯時, I had an idea that I thought would make our editing process more efficient. 我有我認為會使我們的編輯過程更有效率的想法 My manager thought that we should stick with the old ways at first, 我的經理一開始認為我們應該堅持既有的方式, but I prepared a presentation to tell her why I thought this idea would work, 但我準備了一個簡報,告訴她為什麼我認為這個想法可行, and I managed to persuade her. 而我也成功地說服了她 Now that you know what behavioral questions sound like, 既然你現在知道行為問題大概的形式, let's talk about how to answer them. 讓我們來談談如何回答它們 A good way to make sure that you include all the right information in your answer is by using the PAR model. 確保在答案中包含所有正確資訊的好方法是使用 PAR 模型 P is for problem. In my last position, I was put in charge of an important project. 在我之前的職位上,我負責一個重要的計畫 Halfway through the project, my manager let me know that he needed it two weeks early, 在計畫進行到一半時,我的經理告知我期限提前兩週, which put me under a lot of pressure. 這帶給我很大的壓力 It seemed impossible at first, but I managed to reorganize my schedule and get everything done. 一開始似乎不可能達到,但我成功地重新安排時間並完成所有工作 If you're asked a question about a situation that you haven't been in, 如果你被問到一個你沒有經歷過的情形 don't just say that you haven't had that experience, 不要只說你沒有那種經驗, so you can't answer. 所以你無法回答 Either think of an experience that's similar and talk about that, 要試著想到一個類似的經歷並談論它; or if you really haven't been in that situation, 或者如果你真的沒有那種情況, you can tell the interviewer what you would do if you were in that situation. 你可以告訴面試官你在那種情況下會做什麼 Have you ever had a conflict with a supervisor and how did you resolve it? 你是否曾與主管發生衝突?你又是如何解決的? I haven't been in that situation before, 我之前沒有遇過這種情況, but if I did have that problem, I would talk to my supervisor about it. 但如果我真的遇到了這個問題,我會和我的主管談談這件事 I think it's important to address issues as soon they come up. 我認為,問題一出現就試圖解決是很重要的 In an interview you may also be asked questions about what you would do in some imaginary situations. 在面試過程中,你可能會被問到在某些虛構的情境下你會如何因應的問題 These types of questions are called situational questions. 這種類型的問題被稱為情境問題 You can spot these questions by looking out for the word "if". 你可以通過找出 “if” 這個單字來發現這些問題 Situational questions often begin with "If..." or "What would you do if..." 情境問題通常以「如果⋯⋯」或「如果⋯⋯你會怎麼做」開頭 Let's look at an example. 我們來看一個例子 If you were a team leader, and one of your team members was not doing their job well, 如果你負責組織一個團隊,而其中一個成員沒有做好他的工作, what would you do? 你會怎麼做? I would talk to that team member and find out why they were having problems and how I can help. 我會和那個團隊成員溝通,找出他為什麼有困難,以及我可以提供哪些幫助 For example, if they didn't know how to complete their tasks, I could teach them. 例如,如果他不知道如何完成任務,我可以教他 To answer situational questions, you'll need to explain what you would do if you are in those situations. 要回答情境問題,你需要解釋在這種情況下你會做什麼 How would you handle them? 你會怎麼處理它們? If you've had similar experiences you can also mention them. 如果你有類似的經歷,你也可以提出 This will show that you already have experience dealing with these types of problems. 這能展現出你已經具備處理這類問題的經驗 What would you do if a customer got upset even though you did nothing wrong? 即使你沒有做錯任何事,假如有客戶不悅,你會怎麼做?
