Today I'm going to teach you ten current American slang words!

Extra

多餘

Number one is "extra."

第一個是「多餘」

If someone says you're extra, they're saying that you're trying too hard or you're being too dramatic.

如果有人形容你很「多餘」，意思是你「太做作」或是「太誇張」了

For example, if someone cried tears of joy after buying the new Yeezys,

例如，如果有人因為買到了最新款的 Yeezy 球鞋而感動落淚，

you could say, "You're so extra."

你可以跟他說：「你太誇張了。」

People keep saying, "Charlene, why are you so extra?"

大家都跟我說：「Charlene，你怎麼這麼誇張？」

If someone is salty, they're angry or bitter about something.

Often, it's partly because they're embarrassed.

For example, if you win a game against your friend,

and then he says something rude or sarcastic to you,

Low-key was originally an adjective that meant modest, or relaxed, or not a big deal.

But as a slang word, it's used as an adverb,

可是當俚語使用，就變成副詞

and it means kind of or secretly.

意思是「有點」或「暗自地」

You could say something like, "I low key love Justin Bieber."

你可以說：「我其實偷偷愛小賈斯汀。」之類的

You look cute today. Low key though, dude! Low key, dude!

你今天很好看，可是是有一點好看而已

Snatched

抓到重點

Snatched means on point or fashionable.

抓到重點的意思是很正點或很時髦

It can be used to describe anything that you think looks good.

可以用來形容任何你覺得好看的東西

So if you want to compliment someone you could say,

所以你如果想讚美某人可以說：

"Your outfit is snatched!"

「你的穿著有抓到重點！」

Is my nose snatched, or nah?

我的鼻影到底有沒有抓到重點？

Glow up

發光發大

Glow up is a combination of "grow up" and "glow."

發光發大是「長大」和「發光發熱」混在一起的結果

It's used to describe an amazing transformation,

用來描述一項驚人的變革，

and it can be used as a noun or a verb.

可以當名詞或動詞使用

So, if you think someone has gotten a lot more attractive,

所以如果你覺得有人越來越正，

you could say, "You really glowed up."

你可以說「你真的發光發大好多。」

Or, "What a glow up!"

或是，「好一個發光發大！」

I've been watching these YouTube videos about how to glow up over the summer.

Tea

茶

Tea, or the tea, means gossip.

茶的意思是八卦

So, you could ask someone, "What's the tea?"

所以你可以問，「茶是什麼？」

As in, "What's the latest gossip?"

意思是，「最近有什麼卦？」

Or, "Did you hear the tea about Khloe Kardashian?"

或是，「你有聽說 Khloe Kardashian 最新的八卦嗎？」

As in, "Did you hear the latest rumor about her?"

意思是，「你有聽說他最新的八卦嗎？」

The tea is exceptionally good today.

Shook

動搖

Shook means shocked or amazed.

動搖的意思是「震驚」或「驚艷」

If you're shook, you can't believe what you're seeing or what has just happened.

如果你很「動搖」，那代表你覺得你眼前發生的的是難以置信

For example, if you said, "I just got my exam results back, and I am shook,"

例如，「我剛拿到考試成績，我很驚訝。」

it would mean that you were really surprised,

那代表你很驚訝，

either because your score was really high or because it was really low.

代表你的成績特別好或特別差

You see me walkin' by, and you are shook.

你看我走過，覺得很驚訝

Shady

陰

Shady means sneaky or suspicious.

陰的意思是偷雞摸狗或是可疑

You can use it to describe someone that you think isn't trustworthy.

可以用來形容你不信任的人

For example, if someone talks behind your back,

例如，有人在你背後說你壞話，

you could say, "She's shady."

你可以說，「她好陰喔！」

The teacher's shady, kids are insane.

Fire

火熱

Fire is the new way to say hot or awesome.

火熱是形容「很夯」或「很讚」的說法

Online, you might also see people use the fire emoji as a way to say, "This is fire!"

在網路上，你可以看到人們用火焰的表情符號來表達「這很火熱！」

You can say something is fire, like, "This new song is fire!"

你也可以形容某事物很火紅，例如「這首歌很火紅！」

or someone is fire, like, "Beyonce is fire!"

Canceled

已取消

If you say something is canceled, it means that you don't want to deal with that thing anymore.

當你說某件事已取消，代表你不想再花心思在上面了

You're saying it's over.

意思是已經結束了

For example, if you've been seeing someone and then you decide not to anymore,

例如，你和某人在一起，可是你決定不繼續了，

you could say, "That's canceled," as in that relationship is over.

你可以說，「那已經取消了。」，意思是那段感情結束了

You know what, well, that's over. It's canceled.

反正已經結束了，已經取消了

We don't need coffee when we have sparkling water.

我們有氣泡水就不需要咖啡了
