字幕列表 影片播放 列印英文字幕 We are driving the all-new Type-R at Istanbul Park. Since you are racing in a series on this track... ... you're not allowed to drive this because of competition and training issues. But you've driven it on the streets. Guys, today we will also be driving two... ... three, four... ... more very bizzare cars. I've lost count! But our subject right now is, the Type R. The all-new Type-R. The FK2 Type-R! K20C! We've driven it on the street, we know how it rides... ... but we will be on the track the whole day, we will do the review on the track. The car is pretty suitable to the track. It is great on the streets as well, tho. This is a front-driven car, there are some different feelings you get with it... ... we will not be telling you how the buttons or materials feel like... ... rather, we will try to narrate the feeling you get when you drive this car. Your palms get sweaty when you're on the track! Let's just do the interior quickly... Carbon trims here. You can also get another carbon kit for extra decoration here. They really stepped up the cabin quality compared to the outgoing model. Generally speaking the quality level is higher. Steering wheel looks very good. Same gear knob as the previous car. Same seats. Actually there are lots of similarities with the older car... ... we will come to that! It has a G-metre. When you get into that menu, there are lots of different features... You can see your your track times... How much was that? 0.5? 0.6? 0.4. I think that screen should get lost... ... because the resolution is a bit... ... I saw this in the CR-V; it had this screen on top and nothing down here. With the facelifted CR-V, Honda started to put these screens into the Civics too. The touchscreen unit is a good move, but the one on top is quite an old design. They both have very low resolution. Screens are not really related to each other. The main unit has lots of great features inside but you get lost in it. This is like an Android tablet here. It has an app market... It looks like an aftermarket unit, though. Yeah. Resolution is good. You can do lots of things with it. It has good connection options. It is very difficult to get used to the controls on the steering wheel. You get lost in the controls. You keep learning it all over. All the time. The materials in the cabin... These are soft touch, down there is hard plastic. But it's not really important. It is ahead of the older Type-Rs. Quality is acceptable. All the climate controls are digital as well. Best thing here is this Type-R logo and it says '193'. Oh God! Who's that! Go for it! He trolled us! I'll get back to you! Anyways, the cabin is alright, in my opinion. It is much better compared to the old Type-Rs It has black roof lining, I love that. There is alcantara on the doorcards. Isolation is good as well. There isn't too much wind noise inside. There is a bit of tyre rolling noise. But the wind noise is good. It is quite alright when you're travelling at around 100 km/h. Rear cabin is... A bit claustrophobic, but not too cramped. It can easily carry four people. It has four doors. It is very practical compared to the old versions. It is quite livable. It looks like a coupe from the exterior. I loved the comfort level of this car! Guys, you're gonna say 'Come on it is a Type-R!' 'How good can it be?' You won't believe it! Unbelievable. It is by no means a 'soft' car. It is definitely not. But it is much more comfortable than you'd expect. It can absorb everything quite succesfully. In some surfaces you expect it to fail, but it does not. The car has great room for flexibility. It has, even though it's got 19" wheels. The car goes in and out of bumps, the suspension flexes all the time, relentlessly. The car is very tight doing all these, but it never lets itself go, never makes weird noises. The suspensions are of very high quality. It has really, very expensive suspensions and they do a priceless job. With all these, the car handles great, comfort level is very good. It is a great package as a whole. It's comfort levet truly expanded the Type-R's range, expanded its repertoire. And is not a Type-R-Guy, he always complains about its comfort... ... but he loved this one. I really liked it. There is an R+ button here. Normally this is a sportscar. If you press that, it becomes a whole another thing. That mode is just for situations we are in right now. A race track is the only place you'd use it. On the road, it is really not necessary. It is a very tight car that is very fun and that handles great, in its standard form. It has an amazingly good balance. I may sound a bit pretentious but... ... this suspension may be the best system fitted to a road car. It is also electrically assisted... ... yeah it can really get stiffer or softer. When you press the R+ button you do feel the change. When you press it the car stretches itself, it tightens. Look! It became red. Lap time menu came up! The engine... Now... As Type-R fans, we love naturally aspirated motors. We love the K20A, we love the F20C... ... this one has forced induction... ... but it is evil. It goes like stink. Yes, it makes the vacuum-cleaner sound... ... look I'm at 1750 rpms. Stepped on it. It builds up the boost... 310 BHP... ... 400 Nm of torque... ... and a locking-differential! Incredible! Oh God... ... that LSD! The front end turns in with the throttle! Dude this car... Goes like stink! It's like a dog! It scratches! It bites! Look! It's relentless. VSA is still on, by the way. You don't really need to turn it off, tho. If you can lay the correct line... ... it doesn't matter if the back end slides... ... the differential just pulls the front end and the rear just follows! It goes on rails. These have nothing to do with the engine. It's incredible. Talk about the consumption a bit. I took the delivery of the car from Kocaeli Sekerpinar... ... I drove it for 120 kilometres... ... I drove it calmly, I did a little bit of fast driving and I was in a traffic jam. For a total of 120 kilometres. The average was 9.2L/100 km. That's great. 9.2. This is the most economical 2.0L turbo car we've driven. We had the 2-litre turbo Astra OPC, but it consumed a lot. If you never do hard driving, 8-litre region is possible. In city driving. When you go hard on it, it was around 19 litres. 19.6L. We've never seen 20-ish litres. That's interesting. I was expecting a consumption around 25 litres... ... because I was very hard on it. I mean, I really was. This is the Type-R, you can never get enough of it! When you're doing all these, the car just doesn't care! It has that Japanese reliability. You can do all these all day long! All day long! Incredible. Now... What I am holding right now... The gearbox... Just look at that! Gear shifts... Are almost like it is fitted with an aftermarket short-throw shifter kit. It has everything you'd expect from a hot-Honda. The knob is round, fits like a glove. Gearbox is excellent. It's a 6-speed manual. It is beautiful. It has six short ratios. I am about to hit 2000 revs. Now I am doing 2000 rpms. 85 km/h. Ratios are, naturally, very short. But 0-100 time is 5.7 seconds! You can clock the 0-100 time in here. Manufacturer's claim is 5.7 seconds, the best I could manage was 5.98. It scratches the road! Gearbox is done. Now the handling... Oh, before we go on with its handling... ... we have a little clip to show you guys... ... you'll see the difference between this Type-R and the last generation Type-R... ... you'll see and hear the motor difference between the two. It may not be as fast as the FK Type-R... ... not boosted... ... but it has the guts! Handling... Turn 8. What you have to do is, first press the R button... ... then turn the VSA off. It's trned off in just two seconds! Let me put it this way. The car turns in before you turn the wheel! Understeering? Turn the wheel more and put your foot down! The LSD just pulls in the front end. It also has brutal brakes! 350 mm Brembos! You can never wear them out! They are enormous! When it understeered back there, just like Sinan said... I just turned in more and gave it more throttle! The diff works! Start to go in from here. It was around 190 km/h at the apex. That is supercar territory in this corner! Exactly. But the brakes... They are not almost as good as supercar brakes. They are better! It feels like it will flip forward! Look at that! Oh God... You can go a lot faster than many cars in this section. Look at the grip! Incredible. 4th gear... 180. I'm braking... ... down to third, throwing it in... I'm on the throttle so it can go in! Look, my foot is on the floor so the car can turn in! It has road tyres on... ... and they are very low profile tyres. Sidewalls fold when the car is cornering hard. Let's not try to take this one too fast... By the way, we were talking about the comfort... ... it is comfortable although the tyres wide, low profile tyres! What kind of a differential is this, dude! It's an animal! The car moves on its front wheels. The back only follows! Look at that! Apply throttle, the car turns in! Let's put it this way. This car is, in regards of driving dynamics, is the peak point of front wheel drive cars. Not in terms of fun. Maybe a Megane RS would slide its back a bit more and that would be more fun. But I don't think it will be at the same level as this car, and don't think the lap time would be as good as this one. The Type-R holds the FWD lap record of Istanbul Park, as you know. Turn 8. Going wide here, then we'll go in. You have to have some trust in the car and apply more throttle, so it can turn in. If you're on the correct line, it goes like it's on rails. If you get scared and go off the throttle, then it understeers. You have to be gentle on the throttle... Look, I am on the throttle now. When the front end starts to slide, you just have to be steady on the gas and apply some more steering. It's incredible. It's a great car. This is a hardcore hot-hatch. It is the king of hot-hatches right now. I wouldn't say 'hardcore'. It is not a stiff and unlivable track-weapon. I wouldn't say hardcore. I'd say 'professional'. It is a well-studied car. Not only in terms of dynamics. The car, in general, is very high-end. It has incredible driving dynamics. It is really a great car This is the best you can do with front-wheel drive. Also, when you really get used to the car, you can't believe how hard you are able to step on the car! You can go really crazy! Look. I'm on the throttle and it turns in! Look! The car is in a battle! The locking differential does work there. And, bang! It stops. It just does not make the hardcore noises you just heard on the FN2. I must say this though, I'll make a reference to British authorities here again... ... they were critisising this engine a lot... ... they say 'oh it's turbo! It makes a vacuum cleaner noises!' etc. There is nothing artificial in this car. It's all natural. I love the sound it makes. If you haven't heard the old Type-Rs, would you not like the sound of this one? Nope, I wouldn't. But since we do know how the N/A engines sound... ... that's a different story. But this is a much more capable car than the old Type-Rs. The seats are amazing, by the way. They are great. But Type-Rs always had great seats. Conclusion... Guys, seriously, in this class... This car is a reference point in its class. Let me put it this way... ... first there was the record-braking Leon Cupra, then came the Megane RS with another lap record... ... this is Honda's answer. They told everybody... 'Beat this if you have what it takes.' I mean, 'beat it as a complete car', not only in lap times. This is a race car which you can drive daily. Exactly... It costs 160.000 TL in Turkey. Is it worth it? Would I buy it? I'd buy it. It's worth it. The car is expensive, guys. I mean, it has 'value'. There is a serious engineering in this car. It has 160K-worth of handling, 160K-worth of braking,... ... 160K-worth of feelings... It deserves that sticker. You can get an extra carbon trims in the cabin. We partnered with TopGear Turkey, guys. We will also write an article about this car and you'll be able to read it on the first issue. OTOPARK.com will have its own section in the magazine. You must buy the mag every month starting from June! You also must like this video, as well! See you guys. We will do some more laps!
