My name is Benjamin. Today, we are 一個在網路上找得到的超棒地方。我是班傑明,今天我們 going to be doing a short lesson on useful vocabulary for making a presentation. So it's 將要學一些簡報實用的字彙的簡短課程,所以這 going to be useful for college students when you have to make a presentation in class, 對於大學生必須要在課堂上做簡報將會很有幫助。 and also for those of you who are studying business English. So we are going to be looking 還有對於正在學習商業英文的你們也是。所以我們來看看 at how to begin a presentation, how to present ideas, how to... Useful words for putting 如何開始一個簡報,如何表達你的想法,如何...使用有效的字彙 your ideas across. Lovely. 讓人清楚了解你的想法,讚! So, a good way to start, at the beginning. We could say: "To begin with", or: 所以,開始一個簡報前,一個好的開始,我們可以說:“首先” 或者 "To start off", okay? So: ”我們從..開始“ 了解?好.. "I'd like to begin by thanking you all for coming today." Okay? "I'd like", 「我想要藉由謝謝你們今天的參加作為開始」 好嗎? "I'd like" 即是 obviously short for: "I would like to begin", the infinitive "by"... "I'd like to begin by", 明顯簡潔的"I would like to begin",介系詞”by“..."I'd like to begin by" and then you list the reasons or what it is you want to start with. Okay. 然後你列下一些你的理由或是...你想要作為開始的任何事,Okay? Another use of "begin with" or "by": 另一個用法 "begin with" 或者 "by": "It was a great start to the year, beginning with the press conference in Japan", 在日本新聞發表會,從年度作為開始是很好的開頭 for example. Yeah? "It was a great start to the year", 舉例來說,「在XX年這麼棒的一年」 and then "beginning with" with "ing". Just the spelling when you are going to use "ing", 還有"beginning with" 有加ing,當你要念出這個字時記得要拼對, you need to add that extra "n". "Beginning with". So: "begin with" or "by". It kind of 你必須加上額外的N,"Beginning with"。好, "begin with"或是 "by"。有點像 also works with "start off". So: "start off"也說得通, 所以: "I'd like to start off by thanking you for coming to engVid today." “我想要從感謝你們今天來參加 engVid開始” Okay? Or: Okay? 或是: "I'd like to start off by thanking you". 我想先要謝謝你們 "Start off with", "start off by", "begin with", "begin by", 隨著..開始,由..作為開頭,隨著..開始,由..作為開頭。 great ways for starting a presentation. 這些都是在做簡報的時候很好的開頭方式。 The next phrase I want to come on to: "base on". Now, "base" as a verb, it has two different 下一個我想說的慣用語:"base on"。現在,"base" 作為動詞它有兩種不同 functions. Okay? It can be the reason for a decision, or it can be to do with place. 的功用, Okay? 它可以當作一個決定的原因,或是跟放置在哪有關 Okay? So... If I'm using it in the past, I would say: Okay? 所以...如果使用在過去式, 我會說: "This was a decision based on", 這個決定是基於.. it's the reason for decision. So, you came to engVid today based on your desire to become 這個決定的原因。所以,你今天來 engVid 基於你渴望變成 better at English. So: "I base", so I... My reason for the decision, I base this on my 更優秀的,在英文方面。所以"I base",所以我..我做決定的原因,我基於 understanding of the website. Okay? 對於這個網站的了解,Okay? Now, when I'm talking about place, we talk about basing yourself at. So: 現在,當我正在說一個地方,我們談論你自己座落在..,所以: "This company is based in London", or: 這間公司坐落於倫敦。或是: "This company is based in Germany", 這間公司坐落於德國 or if you're going to talk about the future: 或是 如果你將談論未來 "We will base ourselves in the United States" or: “我們將在美國烙腳” 或 "We will be basing ourselves in Montreal or in Russia." Okay? 我們將會在 蒙特利爾 或是 俄羅斯 烙腳 "To base yourself" and the reason for a decision. “烙腳在” 和 做決定的原因 Okay so far? I hope so. Going to do a quiz at the end so if you... You can try out these 到目前為止OK?但願如此,在結束前來做個小測驗吧..你可以試看看這些 phrases, and then I'll give you a bit of feedback on the quiz. 慣用語,然後在測驗中我會給你一些回饋 Now, if I'm doing a presentation and I want you to do something, I might say: 現在,如果我正在做簡報,然後我希望你能做些什麼,我可能會說: "I'd like you to come up with some ideas.", 我希望你能提供一些想法 "I'd like you to come up with some reasons." 我希望你能說出一些理由 Okay? So I'll put: "ideas". OKAY? 我放上:”想法“ Let's just work on the pronunciation, make sure you've got that right. 讓我們試看看發音,確定你已經沒問題了 "I'd like you to come", "I'd like you to come up with", 「我希望你能」、「我希望你能提供」 "I'd like you to come up with some ideas." 「我希望你能提供一些想法」 And then you can ask them to do it with the person sitting next to them, whatever. 然後你可以要求他們跟坐在他們旁邊的人一起做,之類的... Okay? 好嗎? Now, this is quite a difficult phrase: "deal with". Okay? It... It basically means to have 現在,這是一個相當困難的慣用語:"deal with". Okay? 它基本上指的是 an answer to. So: 想個辦法解決。所以 "We need to deal with foreign competitors." 我們需要應付國外的競爭對手 This is a very difficult word to spell: "foreign", okay? 這個字非常難拼: "foreign", okay? It's "eiga", "gn", sorry. So: 它是"eiga","gn",抱歉,所以呢 "We need to deal with foreign competitors." 我們需要應付國外的競爭對手 Here are the foreign competitors, they're saying things, and we need to have an idea. 這些競爭對手,他們說一些事情,然後我們必須要有個想法 We need to have a good idea, we need to do something in return. We need to enter the 我們需要有一個好的想法,我們需要做些什麼來回擊。我們需要進入 fight, almost. Okay? "To deal with". So, I am dealing with... You can ask it as a question: 戰場,幾乎是這樣的, Okay? "To deal with"。所以我正在應付...你可以當作一個問題要求 "Are you dealing with that?" If you're the manager and you're talking to someone in your company: 你正在處理那件事嗎?在公司,如果你是經理,你正在向某人說話 "Are you dealing with that portfolio?" 你正在處理那個業績嗎? or whatever it is. Right? 或者什麼之類的,對吧? Now, "move on". This is a good way, if you're doing a speech, to move on to the next chapter. 現在,"move on"。這是一個好方法,如果你正在演講,進入下一個章節。 Okay? So I have my beginning, come... I'm getting them to come up with ideas. I'm telling Okay?所以,有了beginning,提供..我要求他們提供一些想法。我告訴 them to deal with something. And now, this is just a way of going on to the next chapter, 他們處理一些事情。然後現在,這是即將進入下一個章節的方法 so I'd say: "Moving on to our company's progress in Hong Kong." Okay? So, "moving on", now 所以呢,我會說“接下來我們來看看在香港我們公司的發展”Okay?所以,"moving on",現在 let's look at. Or: "I'd like to move on to...", "I would like to", "I would like to move on to". 我們來看看。或是:我想要到..,我想要..,我想要到.., Now, I'd like to move on to our next guest speaker, so I'm just going to go next 現在,我想請我們下一個受邀講師來,好,我去隔壁 door and see if he's ready for us. One sec. 門,然後看看是不是他已經準備好了,等等唷 That's very strange, the guest speaker, he wasn't there, so terribly sorry, but I have 好奇怪,受邀講師他不在那裡耶,真的很抱歉,不過我會 to finish it myself. Sorry about that. Now, there's one other kind of word I wanted to 自己完成,真的很抱歉。現在,這裡還有另一種字彙,我想要 draw your attention to. We've got: "refer to". Basically means "look at". Okay? "Refer to". 吸引你們注意。我們有"refer to"。基本上這個是指"看到"的意思。 Okay? "Refer to". So, all these people, they're sitting with their little booklets about my talk, 所以,全部的人,他們正坐著拿著有關於我演講的小冊子, I say to them: "Please refer to page 21", or: 我對他們說:“請翻到第21頁”,或是: "Refer to page 34 if you want more information." 「如果你還想知道更多資訊的話,請翻到第34頁。」 Okay? Another use of "refer": If a person in my company gives me serious problems, they're 了解了嗎?另一個refer使用的方式:如果公司有人丟給我一個難搞的問題,而且他們 really rude to me, I say to them: 真的對我態度很差,我會對他們說: "Okay, that's fine. I'll be referring that to your senior manager." “好,沒關係,我一定會向你的資深經理提到這件事。 Okay? "Referring to", it means going to someone else, almost looking to someone 了解嗎?"Referring to"就是去找某人,幾乎等於去找 else for an answer. 某人尋求答案。 Great, so that just puts us in time for our conclusion. To wrap up a speech, you conclude. 好,剛好時間到了,我們做個總結。完成你的演講之後,你會做個總結。 So we start with, start by, now we conclude. So, to conclude today's presentation, 我們開個頭,現在做個總結。好,將今天的簡報內容做個總結, I'd like you to think about doing the quiz on www.engvid.com. 我希望你們考慮在www.engvid.com.做個測驗 Today we did... Well, how 今天我們做了.. 如何 to start, we did "refer to", we said to "come up with", all these really useful words that 開始,我們做了"refer to"還說了 "come up with",這些都是非常實用的字 I hope you're going to be remembering. You could say: "To conclude by..." 我希望你會記下這些,你可以說:"To conclude by..."
