  • To celebrate getting to 100,000 subscribers, I'm going to share with you some of my favorite ways to open a bottle, and we're gonna start by opening a bottle of Champagne with a knife.

  • Smashing!

  • Take your bottle of Champagne, or in this case a cheaper bottle of Cava and carefully remove the foil and wire cage.

    拿起一瓶香檳,或是用影片中所見較便宜的 Cava,小心地去除包裝的金箔和鐵絲蓋。

  • Next, rotate the bottle until you find the seam which joins the two halves of the bottle together.

    接下來旋轉瓶身仔細觀察,直到找到瓶身上的接合處。

  • Follow this seam up the neck to the point where it meets the lip here: this is the weakest part of the bottle and it's where we need to strike with our knife.

    沿著接合處向上尋找瓶口和接縫的交會點,這個點是酒瓶最脆弱的位置,也是我們要用刀子敲擊的點。

  • Next, take a large kitchen knife, and using the back of the knife, not the sharp edge, practice running it up and down the bottle to the lip then, go ahead and strike.

    取一把廚房常用的刀子,用刀背而不要用刀鋒,敲擊前先在酒瓶上來回練習幾次,準備好後就用力敲吧!

  • As you can see, the top of the glass bottle smashes clean off with the cork, it also leaves a very sharp edge on the top of the bottle, so be careful.

    如你所見,瓶口的部分和軟木塞一起被敲掉,瓶子破裂的邊緣非常銳利,請務必小心。

  • As the Champagne spills out when you first open it, it should wash away any glass shards, but double check in your glass before you drink any.

    當香檳從打破的開口溢出時,會把玻璃碎片沖走,不過在乾杯之前,還是再次檢查過杯子比較好。

  • This technique dates back to Napoleonic times, it is known as Le Sabrage, and was traditionally done with a sword.

    這個方法的名字是「Le Sabrage」,最早可以追溯至拿破崙時期,慣例上是用劍作敲擊。

  • You should wear safety gloves and eye protection to make sure you don't cut yourself should anything go wrong.

    建議在操作時戴上手套並且保護好眼睛,避免發生任何意外時傷害到自己。

  • Next, we're gonna open a bottle of wine with a ribbon.

    介紹下一個方法,用緞帶來開瓶。

  • Start by removing the foil.

    首先去除包裝的金箔。

  • Then, push the cork into the bottle using either your finger or a pen.

    再來用手指或筆將軟木塞推入酒瓶中。

  • Next, thread the ribbon into the bottle and underneath the cork like this.

    接著將緞帶推到軟木塞的下方,如影片所示。

  • Then, take a good strong hold of the ribbon, and carefully start pulling the cork up, and out of the bottle.

    握緊緞帶,小心地將軟木塞拉出酒瓶。

  • This does take a lot of force because you're creating a vacuum behind the cork.

    這個步驟需要很大的力氣,因為在拉出的過程會使得瓶內變成真空。

  • The cork should come clean out and undamaged, leaving you with a nice open bottle of wine to enjoy.

    軟木塞應會完整地脫離酒瓶,留下一瓶開好的酒待你享用。

  • And finally, we're gonna open a bottle of beer, using a ten-pound note.

    最後,我們要用十元英鎊紙鈔打開一瓶啤酒。

  • First, take the note, and fold it in half like this.

    首先將紙鈔對折。

  • Then, keep folding it all the way down until you have a very tight roll.

    再繼續由上往下折成細的小條。

  • Fold it in half one more time, and you should have something which looks like this.

    再從小條的中間對折,這時候鈔票的形狀應該會像影片中這樣。

  • Next, take a firm hold of the bottle neck, place the note between your thumb and the underside of the bottle top, and lever it off.

    握緊酒瓶瓶頸將摺疊的鈔票用大拇指抵在瓶蓋下緣,用力的扳開。

  • Be careful not to slip and cut your thumb, or rip the note.

    小心不要手滑割傷大拇指,或是把鈔票割破了。

  • Next, unroll your money, sit back and enjoy a well-earned drink.

    完成後攤開鈔票,就可以坐下來享受努力得來的美酒了。
