Me, myself, and I.
我(受格)、我自己和我(主格)
You may be tempted to use these words interchangeably because they all refer to the same thing,
你有可能會混用這三個字,因為他們指的都是同個主體 。
but in fact, each one has a specific role in a sentence.
但事實上,在句子中,它們都各司其職。
"I" is a subject pronoun,
I 是主詞,也是代名詞。
"me" is an object pronoun,
Me 是受詞,也是代名詞。
and "myself" is a reflexive or intensive pronoun.
而 Myself 則是加強語氣的反身代名詞。
So what does that reveal about where each word belongs?
那這三者在句中的位置代表著什麼呢?
Let's start with the difference between subject and object.
先從主格和受格的差異看起吧!
Imagine the subject as the actor in a sentence and the object as the word that is acted upon.
想像一下,主格是句子裡的執行者,而受格是接受者。
"I invited her but she invited me."
我邀請她(Michelle),但她(Lucy)邀請了我。
The object can also be the object of a preposition.
受格也可以放在介係詞之後。
"She danced around me, while he shimmied up to me."
她(Lucy)在我身旁婆娑起舞,而他在一旁搗亂。
In some languages, like Latin and Russian,
在某些語言,如拉丁語或俄文中,
most nouns have different forms that distinguish subjects from objects.
許多名詞都有不同形式,用以區分主、受格。
However, in English, that's only true of pronouns.
然而在英語中,只有代名詞是如此。
But so long as you know how to distinguish subjects from objects,
只要知道如何區分主、受格,
you can figure out what belongs where.
你便可知道它們在句中該放在哪。
And when you encounter a more complicated sentence,
當遇到較複雜的句子時,
say one that involves multiple subjects or objects,
比如包含多個主、受格的句子。
and you're not sure whether to use "I" or "me,"
你不確定該用 I 還是 me,
just temporarily eliminate the other person,
就先暫時把另一個主詞拿掉,
and once again distinguish subject from object.
接著再試著區分主格和受格。
Here's another.
再舉個例子。
You wouldn't say, "Me heard gossip," but sub in "I" and you're good to go.
不能說:「我(受格)聽到了八卦。」應該要用我的「主格」才行。
Then what about "myself?"
那我自己(myself)呢?
This grand character is often substituted for "me" and "I"
這位大咖常取代我的「主格」與「受格」
because it seems more impressive.
因為它能加強語氣。
"Please tell Jack or myself" may sound elegant,
「請告訴 Jack 或敝人。」聽起來文雅許多,
but in fact, "me" is the right pronoun here.
但事實上,這裡用 me 才是對的。
So where should you use "myself"?
所以什麼時候才要用「我自己」呢?
In its function as a reflexive pronoun,
以其反身代名詞的功能來看,
"myself" only works if it's the object of a sentence whose subject is "I."
「我自己」只能用在一個句子的受格位置,而這個句子的主詞須為「我」 。
"I consider myself the most important pronoun at this year's party."
「我覺得我自己是今年派對裡最重要的咖。」
"Myself" can also add emphasis as an intensive pronoun.
我自己也可以是用來加強語氣的代名詞
"I, myself, have heard others agree."
「我本人已聽到其他人同意了。」
The sentence works without it, but that extra pronoun gives it oomph.
這句其實不需要加上「本人」,但多一個代名詞確實加分不少 。
To check if "myself" belongs in a sentence,
想知道「我自己」是否能用在句子中,
simply ensure that there's also an "I" that it's reflecting or intensifying.
只要看句子裡是不是有主詞「我」,可以用「自己」反身強調。
So that's "me," "myself," and "I,"
以上就是 me、myself 和 I 的用法,
ever ready to represent you, yourself, and hmm... you.
用以表示你的「受格」、「你自己」和你的「主格」。
