Kevin Durant is an amazing basketball player and he certainly proved it against the Dallas
Mavericks. He dropped a career high 52 points against the Dallas Mavericks while shooting
100% from the free-throw line. There aren't many players in the NBA that can do what the
Darantula can do. Not only did Durant drop 52 points, he went 21-for 21 at the free-throw
line. Kevin Durant is also the first player to drop 50 points in the 2012-2013 season.
Durant was hot from the three-point line as well going 5-for-9. The Mavericks were actually
playing good defense but they couldn't keep Durant from going to the free-throw line.
The Dallas Mavericks took the Oklahoma City Thunder to overtime with a final score of
117-114 with OKC taking the win. This performance was exactly what the Oklahoma
City Thunder needed to pull this win from the Mavericks. The Dallas Maverick's coach
Rick Carlisle went as far as to say "He's a great player. Best offensive player on the
planet. I don't think there is any question about that." Rick Carlisle was referring
to Kevin Durant with that statement. Durant struggled in the fourth quarter against the
Mavs where OJ Mayo tied the game with a long three-pointer with 2.3 seconds on the shot
clock. Durant had enough time to end the game with a buzzer beater, but it rimmed out and
brought the game to overtime. Kevin Durant dropped 52 points and he did
it shooting 13 for 31. Kevin Durant also scored 9 of Oklahoma City's 12 points in overtime.
The Oklahoma City Thunder won their sixth straight game while snapping the Dallas Maverick's
four-game winning streak. Kevin Durant is a natural scorer and with
this performance he proved there is nothing anyone can do to stop him from scoring on
the basketball court. Kevin Durant is a great basketball player
because he has mastered the different aspects of the game of basketball. Kevin Durant is
an amazing shooter, ball handler, and a great athlete. He is the ultimate scoring package.
It takes a lot of practice and dedication to get to the level Durant is at and even
if you foul him he will put more points on the board by draining his free-throws with
ease. Dropping 52 points is no easy task but, Kevin
Durant was able to score that many points even after going cold in the majority of the
fourth quarter. This was definitely a performance from an mvp contender.
Here is what Kevin Durant had to say after the game.
"In overtime, I knew if I got down on myself that I was going to put my team in a tough
position to win," said Durant, whose previous career high was 51 against Denver last February.
"They look at me in crunch time to come through for them. When I don't have confidence
in myself, they make sure they pump me up a little."
"Experience has helped me a lot," said Durant. "If I look like I'm out there
panicking, my teammates will look at me and feel the same way. I've got to be cool.
If I miss a shot, so be it. I'm sure opportunity will come back around sooner or later."
