  • Hey, everyone.

    大家好。

  • Welcome to our home and to another interactive video.

    歡迎來到我的家,觀看另一部互動影片。

  • Today, we'll learn how to talk about the things all of us do every day in English; the things we do around the house and about household chores.

    今天,我們將學習如何用英語談論我們每個人每天都要做的事情,即我們在家裡做的事情和家務。

  • So let's combine business with pleasure.

    所以,讓我們愉快的開始吧。

  • I'll be doing my household chores and describing and telling you about them.

    我會做我的家務,並向你們描述和講述它們。

  • All right?

    好嗎?

  • Awesome. Let's go then.

    棒極了。那我們走吧。

  • So the first thing we all do every single day, it's never ending, especially if you have kids and I'm sure you know it,

    我們每天要做的第一件事就是打掃衛生,這是永無止境的,尤其是如果你有孩子的話,我相信你也知道,

  • we all clean up or you could also say tidy up which means to organize a room or an area.

    我們都要打掃衛生,或者也可以說是整理房間或區域。

  • I teach my son to always clean up his mess and put his stuff away and let me tell you, it's a constant battle.

    我教兒子總是要把自己弄亂的地方收拾乾淨,把自己的東西放好,讓我告訴你,這是一場持久戰。

  • Did you notice another useful phrasal verb here?

    你注意到這裡另一個有用的短語動詞了嗎?

  • It's put away; to put away means to place something in a specific spot where it belongs.

    是收起來,收起來的意思是把某樣東西放在屬於它的特定位置。

  • So you could say something like "put away your clothes" or "put away your books" to your child or to your spouse.

    你可以叫孩子或配偶收衣服或收書本之類的。

  • All right, let's say you wanna ask someone to do this or this like these specific actions.

    比方說,你想讓別人做這個或這個,比如這些具體的動作。

  • Do you know what these are called?

    你知道這叫什麼嗎?

  • This is called to sweep the floor using a broom.

    這叫用掃帚掃地。

  • And this one is called to mop the floor.

    而這個叫做拖地。

  • To clean the floor, using a mop and water or cleaning solution.

    用拖把和水或清潔液來清潔地板。

  • Very often people split their chores and have a deal where one of them does one thing and the other one does another thing.

    很多時候,人們會把家務分工,約定一個人做一件事,另一個人做另一件事。

  • Hey, how about I sweep and you mop the floor?

    嘿,我掃地你拖地怎麼樣?

  • All right. All right.

    好啦。

  • Maybe using a broom is not that common anymore, but using a vacuum cleaner definitely is.

    也許使用掃把不再那麼常見,但使用吸塵器絕對常見吧。

  • So when you do this, you vacuum or vacuum clean.

    所以,當你這樣做時,叫做用吸塵器或真空吸塵器清潔,

  • We all know the word dust, right?

    我們都知道灰塵這個詞,對嗎?

  • This is dust.

    這就是灰塵。‘

  • However, to remove dust from surfaces like tables, shelves, et cetera is to dust.

    不過,要清除桌子、架子等表面的灰塵就叫做除塵。

  • So we can also use this word as a verb and say to dust.

    我們也可以把這個詞用作動詞,說 to dust。

  • Right now, I'm dusting.

    現在,我現在正在除塵。

  • And for dusting, we would usually use one of these.

    而對於除塵,我們通常會使用這個。

  • We could also say to dust off, which means to remove dust or dirt from the surface or an object.

    我們也可以說 to dust off(除去灰塵),意思是清除表面或物體上的灰塵或汙垢。

  • And we would usually use it to describe something like this.

    我們通常用它來描述這樣的事情。

  • I'm dusting it off; to dust off.

    我在撣灰塵。

  • This is called to wipe down surfaces.

    這叫做擦拭表面。

  • To clean and dry surfaces like countertops and tables, typically with a cloth and or cleansing solution.

    通常用抹布和清潔液擦拭檯面和桌子等表面,使其清潔乾燥,

  • You can also wipe down appliances like the oven, microwave, et cetera.

    還可以擦拭烤箱、微波爐等電器。

  • When we're cleaning the mirrors or windows using a cloth and a glass cleaner, we would also say to wipe the mirror and to wipe the windows.

    在擦拭鏡子或窗戶時,我們也會用抹布和玻璃清潔劑擦拭鏡子和窗戶。

  • There's another useful term we can add here and it is to polish, which means to make something shiny and clean by rubbing it.

    在這裡,我們還可以補充一個有用的術語,那就是 「拋光」,意思是通過摩擦使東西變得光亮、乾淨。

  • You can polish silverware before your guests arrive or you could ask your spouse to polish it.

    你可以在客人到來之前擦亮銀器,也可以請你的配偶擦亮銀器。

  • You could also polish the floors or you could punish your child and make them polish the floors.

    你也可以擦地板,或者懲罰孩子,讓他們擦地板。

  • I'm just kidding. Or am I?

    我開玩笑的。還是我是認真的?

  • But you can most definitely make watering plants their job.

    不過,你完全可以把澆花當成他們的工作。

  • Let's move to my kitchen.

    讓我們去我的廚房。

  • So here we would do the dishes or do the washing up or wash the dishes.

    在這裡,我們會洗碗、洗衣服或洗盤子。

  • Saying do the dishes is more common, though.

    說 do the dishes 比較常見其實。

  • If you have a dishwasher, you load the dishwasher, meaning you place dirty dishes into the dishwasher for cleaning.

    如果你有一臺洗碗機,你需要把碗盤放入洗碗機,即把髒盤子放進洗碗機清洗,

  • And then you would unload it or empty it to empty the dishwasher means to remove clean dishes from the dishwasher.

    然後把碗盤拿出來或清空洗碗機。

  • Every once in a while, you need to clean out the refrigerator, which means to remove old and expired food items and clean the fridge.

    每隔一段時間,你需要清理冰箱,即清除陳舊和過期的食品,並清潔冰箱。

  • And you need to defrost the freezer which means to remove ice build-up and frost from the freezer.

    你需要為冷凍室除霜,即清除冷凍室中的冰、積垢和霜。

  • Do you know how to describe what I'm doing right now?

    你知道如何形容我現在正在做的事情嗎?

  • If you thought taking out the trash, then you guessed it right.

    如果你認為是倒垃圾,那你就猜對了。

  • To take out the trash means to remove and dispose of garbage from the house.

    倒垃圾就是清除和處理屋內的垃圾。

  • Also, every once in a while, you might want to arrange food items and supplies in your kitchen cabinet so that it doesn't look like this.

    此外,你可能偶爾會想將廚房櫥櫃裡的一些食品和用品擺好,這樣看起來就不會像這樣了。

  • This is a cabinet, by the way.

    這是一個櫥櫃。

  • You would say to organize the kitchen cabinet or to organize the pantry, but we don't have a pantry in this apartment to show you.

    對了,你會說整理廚房櫥櫃或整理儲藏室,但我們這間公寓裡沒有儲藏室可以給你看。

  • But here's a picture of a pantry, though.

    不過,這裡雖然有一張圖片。

  • You can also organize the paperwork, which means to sort and file important documents.

    你也可以整理文件,也就是將重要文件分類歸檔。

  • You could also say to organize the closet, which means to arrange clothes and belongings in the closet in the orderly manner.

    也可以說整理衣櫥,即把衣服和物品有序地擺放在衣櫥裡。

  • Our closet is not organized right now.

    我們的衣櫥現在還沒有整理好。

  • But truth be told, this is what it looks like 90% of the time.

    但說實話,90% 的情況都是這樣。

  • Now let's go ahead and relocate to our laundry room and we'll get back to our bedroom after that.

    現在我們先去洗衣房,然後再回臥室。

  • So the laundry room is where your washing machine or washer and dryer are, and you do your laundry

    洗衣房就是洗衣機或洗衣機和烘乾機所在的地方。

  • To do the laundry means to wash, dry and fold clothes.

    洗衣服就是洗衣服、晾衣服、折衣服。

  • Folding the laundry and putting it away is probably the most relaxing thing for me, if choosing between chores

    折衣服對我來說可能是最輕鬆的事情了,如果要在家務之間做出選擇的話。

  • If you don't have a dryer, then you must have either a clothesline or a drying rack to put what clothes on to air dry.

    如果沒有烘乾機,那麼就必須有晾衣繩或晾衣架,把衣服放在上面晾乾。

  • And this is called hanging out the laundry, which could also be your child's chore, just saying you gotta put all that energy to good use.

    這就是所謂的晾衣服,也可以是你孩子的家務,只是說你得把所有精力都用在刀刃上。

  • Another not only useful word but also a useful activity is decluttering.

    另一個不僅有用的詞,而且有用的活動是「整理」(decluttering)。

  • To declutter means to remove unnecessary items to create more space.

    整理的意思是去除不必要的物品,創造更多空間。

  • That's what I definitely need to do everywhere in my home from time to time; in my closet, in my son's room, in the kitchen, everywhere.

    在家裡的衣櫃裡、兒子的房間裡、廚房裡,到處都是我時常要做的事。

  • Another activity you probably know the name of and do every morning is making the bed.

    你可能知道的另一項每天早上都要做的活動是鋪床。

  • To make the bed means to arrange the sheets and blankets neatly on a bed.

    鋪床 是指把床單和被子整齊地鋪在床上。

  • Then once a week or once every couple of days, you would change the bed sheets to replace the old bed sheets with fresh ones.

    然後每週或每兩天更換一次床單,用新床單替換舊床單。

  • I do this but I honestly don't like this process.

    我會做這個家事,但我真的不喜歡這個過程。

  • A typical man's chore would be to replace light bulbs, which means to exchange old and burnt out light bulbs with new ones.

    一般男生會做的的家務是更換燈泡,也就是用新燈泡替換舊燈泡和燒壞的燈泡。

  • Another chore I don't like to do is to go grocery shopping, which means to buy groceries and food items from a store.

    我不喜歡做的另一件瑣事是去買菜,也就是去商店買日用品和食品。

  • It just takes so much time and it's really tiring for me.

    這需要很多時間,對我來說真的很累。

  • Hey, Siri, add coconut milk to my shopping list.

    嘿,Siri,把椰奶加到我的購物清單裡。

  • Ok. I added it.

    好的。我加了。

  • And the last useful phrase I want to give you is stock up on supplies or stock up on something, which means to buy and together necessary items in abundance to buy a lot of them.

    我想告訴大家的最後一個實用短語是 「囤積物資 」或 「囤積東西」,意思是大量購買必要的物品。

  • Or as people also say to buy in bulk, for example, you could stock up on toilet paper, macaroni and pasta, canned foods or just items that are on sale.

    或者,人們也說要批量購買,例如,你可以囤積衛生紙、通心粉和意大利麵、罐頭食品或打折商品。

  • So now when somebody asks you, what did you do today and you just happen to be doing some chores,

    所以當有人問你今天做了什麼,而你恰好在做家務時,你的回答就會更具體,

  • your reply can be more specific than just "I did some stuff around the house."

    而不僅僅是 「我做了一些家務。」。

  • Or when someone asks you to put something away, you'll know what to do.

    當有人讓你把東西放好時,你也會知道該怎麼做。

  • Well, thank you guys for watching this video.
