  • One, I focus on phrases instead of individual words.

    一、我專注於片語,而不是單詞。

  • Two, I remember the 2R rule of memorization.

    二、我記得默背的 2R 法則。

  • Three, I remember where I got that particular word or phrase.

    三、我記得是從哪裡看到這個特定的詞或片語。

  • And four, I make up scenarios in my own head.

    還有四、我會在腦中編造情景。

  • Hi, guys.

    大家好。

  • In this video, I want to tell you the four ways I do to memorize words.

    在這段影片中,我想跟大家分享我記憶單詞的四種方法。

  • So, this method works for me personally, and I think it does work for a lot of people, especially if they're at an intermediate level.

    這個方法對我個人來說有用,我認為這對很多人都確實有效,尤其如果他們的程度處於中級。

  • So, it doesn't mean that if you're a beginner, you cannot really take my advice, but I think this works best if you have already a certain level of the language.

    這不表示如果你是初學者,就不太能接受我的建議,但我覺得你如果已經有了一定的語言水準,效果會最好。

  • So, here goes.

    開始吧。

  • So, once you're already at a level where you know all of the basic words and you can kind of understand things and you can string sentences together,

    你已經達到認識所有基本單詞的程度,而且可以大概理解內容並能夠串起語句後,

  • at this stage, it's much better to learn in phrases.

    在這個階段,用片語學習要好多了。

  • So, learning phrases is actually a more brain-friendly learning process because, yeah, your brain actually likes to learn better in chunks.

    學習片語實際上是一個更有利於大腦的學習過程,因為你的大腦其實更喜歡分塊學習。

  • So, like, think about the numbers on your credit card.

    想想看你信用卡上的數字。

  • They're usually divided into four chunks of numbers because then, it's a lot easier for people to read it out loud and for people to memorize it.

    它們通常被分為四大塊數字,因為這樣一來,人們就更容易大聲讀出,也更容易記憶它。

  • Also, if you do want to learn individual words, learning individual words in phrases is actually a lot better for you to remember it because learning it in a phrases gives you context.

    此外,如果你確實想學習單詞,學習片語中出現的單詞其實對你的記憶更有利,因為以片語學習會提供背景。

  • And, also, whenever you learn in phrases, you don't actually have to worry about the grammar most of the time because learning in phrases, the grammar is already kind of done for you.

    還有,每當你用片語學習時,多數時候其實不用擔心文法問題,因為片語學習時,文法已經固定好了。

  • For instance, the phrase "how are you" is just said (as) "how are you" and not "how is you".

例如,how are you 這個片語就是以 how are you 的形式說,而不是 how is you。

  • Why?

    為什麼呢?

  • Because that's just the way it is.

    因為它就是這樣的。

  • As a phrase, you don't really have to think about why is it "is" and not "are".

    以一個片語來說,你不太需要思考為什麼是用 is 不是 are。

  • I don't know; it's just how it is.

    我不知道,它就是這樣的。

  • Learning phrases will get you to sound a lot more natural when it comes to you actually speaking the language out loud.

    學習片語會讓你在大聲說那個語言時,聽起來更加自然。

  • Number two, I remember the 2R of memorization, which is relevance and repetition.

    第二、我記得默背的 2R 法則,也就是 relevance(相關性)和 repetition(重複性)。

  • So, for relevance, I would ask myself: OK, is this word relevant to my life?

    就相關性而言,我會問自己:好,這個字跟我的生活相關嗎?

  • Can I see myself saying these phrases out loud in my day-to-day?

    我能否預見自己在日常生活中說出這些片語?

  • Or did I just choose some random word that I see from a piece of content and just wanting to memorize it just because?

    還是說,我只是從看到的一篇文章中,隨機挑了一個字,然後只是為了默背而默背?

  • For repetition: Do I see this word often in my life?

    至於重複性:我在生活中常看到這個字嗎?

  • If it's relevant, most likely, you will.

    如果它是相關的,你很可能會。

  • Or, do I review this phrase or this word often so that it imgets imprinted in my memory?

    還是說:我複習這個片語或單字的頻率高到它已經烙印在我的記憶中了?

  • Or, do I just simply see it once, write it down in my notebook, and never see it again?

    或者:我只是看到它一次、把它記在筆記本裡,然後再也不會看到它?

  • Because if that's what you do, that's the habit that you get into doing, forget it!

    因為如果你是那樣做、那是你養成的習慣,那就算了吧!

  • Like, literally, you're going to forget the word immediately.

    因為你確實會馬上忘記那一個字。

  • So, make sure that once you learn a new phrase or a new word, you repeat it over and over again.

    所以說,確保自己學會了一個新片語或單字後,會一遍、一遍地重複它。

  • Number three, I remember where I got the word.

    第三、我會記得我是從哪裡看到這個字。

  • So, for me, I never learn words or phrases that I got from a list, like, "500 most common words" or "20 phrases to say when you are confused".

    對我來說,我從來不會去學從一份單字表上得到的單字或片語,比如「500 個最常見單字」或「你困惑時可以說的 20 個片語」。

  • Stuff like that⏤I don't really do that.

    諸如此類的,我都不太會去那樣做。

  • Some people do, and it works for them, so that's good for you.

    有些人會這麼做、對他們也有效,如果你也那樣就太好了。

  • But, for me, I would rather look for words in actual pieces of content.

    但對我來說,我寧可在實際的狀況中找單字。

  • So, from videos, from TV shows, movies, or songs, because, then, it gives me a story.

    所以說,從影片、電視節目、電影或歌曲中,因為這樣會提供故事情境給我。

  • It gives me context in which the word is used.

    它給了我這個字的使用背景。

  • So, as a personal example, the other day, I was watching a TV show in French, and then I saw the phrase "ça fait beaucoup".

    拿我自己的經驗為例:我某天正在看一個法語的電視節目,然後看到了 ça fait beaucoup 這個片語。

  • So, when I wrote it down, I didn't simply write it down and write down the meaning right after that.

    當我把它寫下來時,不僅僅是寫下它,並在其後寫下它的意思。

  • But in my head, I'm also replaying the scene in which this phrase was used because it creates a story.

    但在我的腦中,我也在回想使用這句話的場景,因為它創造一個故事。

  • And when you create a story, your brain likes it better because some stories invoke emotions.

    而當你創造故事時,你的大腦會更喜歡,因為有些故事能喚起人們的情感。

  • You know what? Emotion is actually a good ingredient for you to remember stuff.

    你知道嗎?情感實際上讓你記住東西的好成分。

  • So, just think about some of your most memorable experiences, probably the reason why that moment or that story is very memorable to you.

    你可以回想一些你最難忘的經歷,它們難忘可能是因為那一刻或那個故事讓你印象深刻。

  • It's because it's emotional, it make you happy, it make you sad, it make you angry, and with that, for the rest of your life, you're never going to forget that.

    那是因為故事是具情感性的,它會讓你開心、難過、憤怒,也因此,你終身都不會忘記。

  • So, same like learning words.

    學習單字也是一樣。

  • You don't have to make it that dramatic,

    你不必讓它如此戲劇化,

  • but if you manage to make a story and then you invoke a little bit of emotion to itand maybe it was fun, maybe it was a scene that was your favorite,

    但如果你能夠創造一則故事,並加上一點情感(或許是有趣的,又或者是你最喜歡的場景),

  • you can remember it better.

    你就可以更好地記憶。

  • So, whenever I learn a new word or phrase, I always try my best to remember where I got it from and replay that story in my head,

    所以說,每當我學習一個新的單字或片語時,我總會盡力記得是從哪裡得到的,並在我的腦海中重新播放這個故事,

  • which brings me to the fourth point.

    而這讓我來到第四點。

  • Which is to make up my own scenarios in my head.

    也就是:在我腦中自創情境。

  • OK, so, I found a phrase and a word that I got from a certain scene.

    好了,我找到了一個從某個情境的片語或單字。

  • Now, it is time to make it my own.

    現在是時間把它變成自己的。

  • For instance, let's say, the other day, I just learned a phrase "from time to time" in English from a certain scene.

    舉個例子,假設我某一天從某個情境學到了 from time to time(三不五時,不時)這個英文片語。

  • Let's say the scenethey were explaining about how often they see their ex-girlfriend.

    假設在這個情境中,人物在說明他們見前女友的頻率。

  • So, after seeing that scene, I'm going to make up my own scenario, trying to tell the story to other people.

    在看了那一幕之後,我決定創造自己的情境,試著跟其他人說說這個故事。

  • Yeah, "I see my ex-boyfriend from time to time," or, "Yeah, I clean my room from time to time, not always," this and that.

對,I see my ex-boyfriend from time to time.(我三不五時會跟我前男友碰面。)或者 Yeah, I clean my room from time to time, not always(是,我不時會打掃房間,但不經常。)等等的。

  • So, that makes the memory a lot stronger in my head because, then, I am in it.

    那樣會讓這個記憶在我腦中更有力,因為我身在其中。

  • So, the input, I get an example from a scene, from a movie, from somewhere else,

    所以說,在輸入的部分,我會從一個場景、一部電影或其它地方獲得範例,

  • and then, as an output, I would kind of think of myself saying it out loud.

    然後輸出時,我會想像自己大聲說出來。

  • And that is going to make it easier for me to remember this in the future because I will imagine myself already saying it out loud.

    那會讓我未來記憶更簡單,因為我會想像自己已經大聲說出口了。

  • So, yeah.

    所以,是的。

  • OK, guys, well, that is it for this video.

    好了,大家,影片就說到這裡了。

  • I hope you guys enjoyed it; I hope you guys learn something new.

    希望各位喜歡,也希望你們學到了一些新東西。

  • If you do, give it a thumbs-up and I will see you next week in another video.

    如果是這樣的話,請幫影片點讚,我們下週另一部影片中見。

  • Take care and bye-bye.

    保重,掰掰了!

One, I focus on phrases instead of individual words.

一、我專注於片語,而不是單詞。
