These are homophones: two words that are spelled differently, with different meanings, that are pronounced exactly the same way. So same pronunciation for both of these words. So we have two words: addition to add something and addition a version So to say these words correctly we're going to think about three beats UH DIH SHUN. UH DIH SHUN. I actually spelled this though, and I split the syllables a little differently, and wrote the word dish, because I know sometimes having a real word helps some of you. So you can think of that as well. So so to say this word correctly, let's start with the short, unstressed, uh, the schwa. Just open your mouth, let the air puff out for that uh. Next move to the dish and to do that, touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth. And then you're going to relax your mouth for that short ih and then pucker for the sh. SHHHH And then end with the un. To do that, relaxed mouth, and then touch the tip of the tongue to the back of the top front teeth for that n, air moves out of the nose. Let's put it all together a dish un addition edition addition edition addition edition addition And now for a sentence: I have an addition to the current edition of the book.
