Everyone wants things to go their way.
Here are seven mind tricks you can do right now to get what you want.
Mirroring
To get someone to subconsciously think they like you,
mirror their body language.
"I can feel like we could bring you in."
"That's great! I'd love...I'd love to work here."
Foot in the door technique.
Ask a small favor of someone,
"Could you open this for me? I can't"
before you ask them what you really want.
"Hey! You know you pretty strong.
I'm moving this weekend, I could really use some help."
"Oh... yeah. Sure."
"Oh, that'd be great."
"Door in the face" technique
Ask for something big,
"Hey, Sara."
"would you mind watching my cat this weekend?"
Uh?This weekend?
before you reveal what you really need.
"It's Kinda..."
"Actually, maybe that's a lot to ask."
"Maybe you could just put this in the mail for me."
"Yeah, I can do that."
"Hey, thanks."
Misattribution of arousal
Sometimes we think our emotions are caused by one reason,
but actually caused by another.
Do something exciting with a date,
(unh)
and they might mistake their jitters for attraction.
Conformity
You can get someone to agree with you in the moment on something that is clearly incorrect
by placing them in a group setting and having everyone else gives that wrong answer.
"Hey, Robert."
"By the way,
all of us have been showing up to work every Sunday.
You haven't been there.
Right, guys?"
"Yeah."
"Every Sunday man!"
"You gotta show up to work on Sunday, man."
"Ok yeah. Yeah, Ok."
"Ok good."
Primacy/recency effect
If you want someone to remember you outta the group,
try to be introduced first or last.
"Who wants to go first?"
"Oh I'll go first."
Swearing
"We all have to go to the damn bathroom every once a while, but what if it could be a helluva lot more fun."
You can persuade an audience better by mildly swearing at the start and at the end of speech or presentation.
It will demonstrate that you're passionate by your argument.
"In short, it's something we need, dammit."
(applause)
(get what you want)

1go their way0:02

go sb.’s way (v.)
John planned the prank for a long time, but in the end, it didn’t go his way.

stand in sb.’s way (v.)
The only thing standing in her way is her lack of self confidence.

in a way (phr.)
In a way, I kind of agree with you.

Way to go!
You were amazing on the stage. Way to go!

2foot in the door0:18
foot in the door

By interning at a consulting firm, she already has a foot in the door.

3ask a small favor0:20
Can you give me a hand. Can you do me a favor. Can I ask a favor of you? 。
No, don’t thank me. I’m just returning you a favor for giving me a hand last week.

win / gain / lose favor (+ with sb.) (v.)
Our products have lost favor with teenagers, since we don’t actually understand their needs.

in favor (+ of sth.) (v.)
Not all people are in favor of dealth penalties.

4jitters1:02
jitters 是口語經常用的字,通常與 get /have 搭配,get / have the jitters 表示緊張恐慌的意思。

get / have cold feet (v.)
The bride got cold feet just before the wedding started and broke down in tears.

get / have the chills (v.)
I get the chills every time a walk by that old house near the lake.

He’s one helluva good person.

I’ve had a helluva time with you guys.

What a helluva mess!
