But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin.

但我主要的訊息要傳達給 Trayvon Martin 的家長。

If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon.

如果我有兒子，他會很像 Trayvon。

They had their entire lives ahead of them, birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own.

他們有大好人生等著他們，生日、畢業、結婚、生小孩。

Among the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill their dreams.

離去的還有老師，男老師、女老師，他們奉獻一生來幫我們的孩子完成夢想。

So our hearts are broken today.

所以今天，我們的心都碎了。

It's the idea held by generations of citizens, who believe that America is a constant work in progress, who believe that loving this country requires... requires more than singing its praises or avoiding uncomfortable truths.

我們幾世代的公民，都相信美國是持續進步的國家，相信要愛這個國家，就不只是唱唱讚美的歌、也不僅是避開令人不適的真相。

It requires the occasional disruption, the willingness to speak out for what is right, to shake up the status quo.

要愛這個國家，需要偶爾的破壞，願意為對的事情大聲疾呼，搖晃現狀。

That's America.

這才是美國。

Facts, evidence, reason, logic, an understanding of science, these are good things.

These are qualities you want in people making policy.

Black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, young, old, gay, straight, men, women, folks with disabilities all pledging allegiance under the same proud flag to this big, bold country that we love.

That's what I see.

That's the America I know.
