  • So, I'm pretty excited today because it's finally snowing here in Canada and I love snow.

    所以,今天我非常興奮,因為加拿大終於下雪了,我喜歡雪。

  • I love it when it starts to snow outside.

    我喜歡外面開始下雪的時候。

  • As an English learner, though, you might be wondering, why do native English speakers sometimes use the word love and sometimes use the word like?

    但是,作為英語學習者,您可能想知道,為什麼以英語為母語的人有時使用“love”一詞,有時使用“like”一詞?

  • Well, in this English lesson, I will help you learn when to choose the word love and when to choose the word like,

    在這節英語課上,我將幫助你學習何時選擇“love”這個詞以及何時選擇“like”這個詞,

  • and at the end, we'll also look at some English phrases that have the word love.

    最後,我們也會看一些帶有“love”一詞的英語短語。

  • Well, hey, welcome to this English lesson where I'm going to help you learn when to use the word love, and when to use the word like.

    嘿,歡迎來到這節英語課,我將幫助您學習何時使用“love”這個詞,以及何時使用“like”這個詞。

  • I love it that you are learning English.

    我很高興你正在學習英語。

  • You can hear, there, that I used the word love to express something that gives me joy, to express something that I enjoy about the fact that you are watching these videos.

    你可以聽到,我用「愛」這個詞來表達一些帶給我快樂的東西,表達一些我喜歡你正在觀看這些影片的事實。

  • So I love it that you're here, but if you are new, don't forget to click that red subscribe button below and give me a thumbs up if this video is helping you learn a little bit of English.

    所以我很高興你能來到這裡,但如果你是新人,請不要忘記點擊下面的紅色訂閱按鈕,如果這個影片能幫助你學習一點英語,請給我點讚。

  • Or I could say, "Give me a thumbs up if you like this video."

    或者我可以說:「如果你喜歡這個影片,請按讚。」

  • So the main difference between like and love is that there is a difference in the degree to which the thing or person brings you joy, okay?

    所以 like 和 love 的主要差異在於事物或人帶給你快樂的程度不同。

  • So when we say that we like something or love something, it's a difference in how much that thing brings us joy.

    因此,當我們說我們喜歡某事或熱愛某事時,這取決於該事物給我們帶來多少快樂。

  • But there is also a little bit of a difference between how we use like and love when we're talking about things or activities and when we're talking about people.

    但是,當我們談論事物或活動時和談論人時,我們使用「喜歡」和「愛」的方式也存在一些差異。

  • So here's a good example of using like versus love when you're talking about a thing.

    以下是一個在談論某件事時使用「喜歡」與「愛」的好例子。

  • I like this tree.

    我喜歡這棵樹。

  • I like this tree a lot because it is a tree that Jen and I planted when we first moved to the farm, but I love this tree.

    我非常喜歡這棵樹,因為它是我和珍第一次搬到農場時種的樹,但我喜歡這棵樹。

  • I love this tree a lot because this tree has been across the river and I have been looking at this tree ever since I was a kid.

    我非常愛這棵樹,因為這棵樹就在河對岸,我從小就一直看著這棵樹。

  • This tree is super old, and I love it.

    這棵樹非常古老,我很愛它。

  • So that would mean that I like this tree, but this tree brings me more joy and I enjoy looking at this tree a lot more than this tree.

    所以這意味著我喜歡這棵樹,但這棵樹給我帶來了更多的快樂,我比看這棵樹更喜歡看這棵樹。

  • So I like this tree, but I love this tree.

    所以我喜歡這棵樹,而且我愛這棵樹。

  • And I can use the same example when talking about weather.

    當談論天氣時我可以使用相同的例子。

  • I like rain.

    我喜歡雨。

  • I actually like rainy days.

    其實我很喜歡下雨天。

  • Rainy days are nice because there's just the beautiful sound of rain outside and rain makes things grow.

    下雨天是美好的,因為外面有美妙的雨聲,雨讓萬物生長。

  • But for some reason, I love snow, so snow brings me more joy than rain.

    但不知道為什麼,我愛雪,所以雪比雨帶給我更多的快樂。

  • Rain does bring me joy, and I do like it, but snow brings me a lot more joy, even when it's landing on my face while I'm trying to make a video.

    雨確實給我帶來了快樂,我確實喜歡它,但雪給我帶來了更多的快樂,即使當我試圖製作影片時它落在我的臉上。

  • So I love snow, and I like rain.

    所以我愛雪,也喜歡雨。

  • So, things are a little different, though, when you are using like or love when you are talking about people, and you need to be careful here.

    所以,但是,當你在談論人時使用喜歡或愛時,情況有點不同,你需要小心。

  • We use the word like to express the fact that certain people bring us joy, that it's nice to be around them.

    我們用「喜歡」這個詞來表達某些人帶給我們快樂,和他們在一起感覺很好。

  • It's nice to hang out with them.

    和他們一起出去玩很好。

  • I like the people I work with.

    我喜歡和我一起工作的人。

  • I like the students that I have in my class.

    我喜歡班上的學生。

  • But in English, we tend to reserve the word love when talking about people for close family members or people that we are romantically attached to.

    但在英語中,我們傾向於保留「愛」這個詞給親密的家庭成員或與我們有浪漫關係的人。

  • So for instance, I love my kids, I love my mom, and I obviously love Jen.

    舉例來說,我愛我的孩子,我愛我的媽媽,而且我顯然也愛珍。

  • So you need to be careful in English when using the word love to talk about people because it wouldn't be appropriate to tell someone who's in a class with you learning English that you love them.

    因此,在使用「愛」這個詞來談論人時,你在英語中需要小心,因為告訴與你一起學習英語的班級的人你愛他們是不合適的。

  • But here's how you can use the word love safely to talk about another person.

    但是,您可以透過以下方法安全地使用“愛”這個詞來談論另一個人。

  • You can say, "I love working with you."

    你可以說:「我很喜歡和你一起工作。」

  • You could say, "I love taking this class with you."

    你可以說:「我很喜歡和你一起上這門課。」

  • Those sentences would be totally appropriate, and you could say them in English and no one would look at you funny.

    這些句子是完全恰當的,你可以用英語說它們,沒有人會用滑稽的眼神看著你。

  • So, because we use the word love to talk about romantic love between two people, we have a few English phrases that we use when we talk about love.

    因此,因為我們使用“love”這個詞來談論兩個人之間的浪漫愛情,所以我們在談論愛情時會使用一些英語短語。

  • We say that two people fall in love.

    我們說兩個人墜入愛河。

  • When you fall in love with someone, it means that you are romantically attracted to them and that they're a person that you just think about all the time.

    當你跟某人墜入愛河時,這意味著你被他們浪漫地吸引,並且他們是你一直在想的人。

  • They're a person that you want to be with, maybe for life,

    他們是一個你想與之共度一生的人,

  • so when you fall in love, it means that you only think about that person and you want to be with them forever.

    所以當你墜入愛河時,就意味著你只想著那個人,並且想永遠和他在一起。

  • In fact, if you're really in love with someone, we use the phrase "head over heels in love."

    事實上,如果你真的愛上某人,我們會用「head over heels in love」這個短語。

  • When you are head over heels in love with someone, it means that you really, really love them a lot.

    當你愛上一個人的時候,就表示你真的非常非常愛他。

  • Sometimes when people meet for the first time, it is love at first sight.

    有時候,人與人的第一次見面會一見鍾情。

  • Love at first sight refers to a situation where two people see each other for the first time and they're so attracted to each other that they think they're in love.

    一見鍾情是指兩個人第一次見到對方,就被對方吸引,自己戀愛了。

  • Maybe they actually are in love, but I usually think they think they're in love, or at least they're starting to fall in love.

    也許他們真的戀愛了,但我通常認為他們認為他們戀愛了,或者至少他們開始戀愛了。

  • When two people love each other a lot, we also sometimes say that they are madly in love.

    當兩個人非常相愛時,我們有時也會說他們瘋狂相愛。

  • When you are madly in love with someone, you are really in love with them.

    當你瘋狂地愛一個人的時候,你就是真的愛他了。

  • And we sometimes say that people are blinded by love.

    我們有時會說,人們被愛情蒙蔽了雙眼。

  • When you are blinded by love, it means that no matter what the person does who you love, you will always believe them.

    當你被愛蒙蔽雙眼時,就意味著無論你愛的人做了什麼,你都會永遠相信他們。

  • I think I might be blinded by my love of snow.

    我想我可能被我對雪的熱愛蒙蔽了雙眼。

  • It really was just a little bit too snowy out here today to make a video, but I think I got it done.

    今天這裡的雪實在是有點太大了,無法製作影片,但我想我已經完成了。

  • So I'm not quite sure how to describe this one to you, so I'm going to ask you to look it up, but we also have the English phrase "to make love."

    所以我不太確定如何向你描述這個,所以我要請你查一下,但我們也有英語短語“to make love”。

  • When two people make love...

    當兩個人做愛的時候...

  • I'll let you look it up and figure it out.

    你自己上網查一下並弄清楚。

  • There, that's a bit better.

    好了,情況好一點了。

  • I went inside and switched cameras because there was so much snow coming down that I was getting covered and my camera was getting a lot of snow on it.

    我進去換了相機,因為降雪太多,我被遮住了,我的相機上也沾了很多雪。

  • So I've switched to my other camera, and let's finish this video.

    所以我已經切換到我的另一台相機,讓我們完成這個影片。

  • So this one is kind of awkward to explain, and it's the English phrase "love handles."

    所以這個解釋起來有點尷尬,它是英語短語“love handles”。

  • Love handles are when you start to get a little bit of fat right here.

    腰間贅肉當你的腰開始變胖的時候。

  • When you start to put weight on and you have little spots on your stomach where there is a lot of body fat, we call those love handles.

    當你的體重開始增加,腹部出現一些游泳圈,那裡有大量的脂肪,我們稱之為「腰間贅肉」。

  • It's kind of an awkward thing, but that's what they're called.

    這有點尷尬,但這就是他們的名字。

  • So you can fall in love, but you can also fall out of love.

    所以你可以墜入愛河,但你也可以失戀。

  • When two people fall out of love, it means that they don't love each other anymore.

    當兩個人失戀的時候,就代表他們不再愛對方了。

  • Sometimes when you watch a romantic movie, you'll notice that the person is looking for true love or they're looking for their true love.

    有時,當你看一部浪漫電影時,你會注意到這個人正在尋找真愛,或者他們正在尋找他們的真愛。

  • True love would be when you find the person that you are meant to be with, and you can refer to that person as your true love.

    真愛是當你找到你注定要在一起的人,並且你可以稱那個人為你的真愛。

  • When we talk about our families, when we talk about our spouses, our kids, and our brothers and sisters and mom and dad, we use the English phrase "loved ones."

    當我們談論我們的家庭、我們的配偶、我們的孩子、我們的兄弟姐妹、媽媽和爸爸時,我們使用英語短語「loved ones」。

  • We refer to them as our loved ones.

    我們稱他們為我們的親人。

  • So Jen and my kids are my loved ones.

    所以珍和我的孩子是我的親人。

  • It's a really cool English phrase to talk about the people who you love most in your life.

    這是一個非常酷的英語短語,用來談論你生命中最愛的人。

  • So you've heard me a number of times in this video say, "I love it," and this is an expression or phrase in English that you will hear quite often when people talk about things that they love, things that they just love or things that they love doing.

    所以你在這個影片中多次聽到我說「我很喜歡」,這是一個英語表達或短語,當人們談論他們喜歡的東西,他們只是喜歡的東西時,你會經常聽到它或者他們喜歡做的事情。

  • I really love snow.

    我真的很喜歡雪。

  • I love it.

    我很喜歡。

  • I think maybe I've mentioned that too many times in this video, but yes, I definitely love it.

    我想也許我在這個影片中提到了太多次,但是,是的,我絕對喜歡它。

  • There's another English phrase, "a labour of love."

    還有另一個英語短語,“a labour of love”。

  • When something is a labour of love, it is a job that you do for someone because you love them.

    當某件事是愛的勞動時,它是你為某人做的工作,因為你愛他們。

  • When you do a lot of laundry, like Jen and I do, we do a lot of laundry, it is definitely a labour of love.

    當你洗很多衣服時,就像珍和我一樣,我們洗很多衣服,這絕對是一種愛的勞動。

  • We don't wash all of our kids' clothes because we love doing laundry.

    我們洗孩子所有的衣服,不是因為我們喜歡洗衣服。

  • We wash all of our children's clothes because we love our children, so it is a labour of love.

    我們洗孩子所有的衣服是因為我們愛我們的孩子,所以這是一種愛的勞動。

  • It is a job we do because we love the people who that job helps.

    我們從事這項工作是因為我們愛那些受到這項工作幫助的人。

  • In English, when you send someone a letter who you love, maybe to your mum or dad, you can end that letter or email by saying, "Lots of love."

    用英語,當你寫一封信給你愛的人時,也許是給你的媽媽或爸爸,你可以在這封信或電子郵件的結尾說「Lots of love」。

  • So at the end of the letter, you could say, "I hope things are going well for you. Lots of love from your son, Bob."

    所以在信的最後,你可以說:「我希望你一切順利。給你滿滿的愛,你的兒子 Bob 敬上。」

  • I should write my mom a letter sometime.

    我應該找個時間寫封信給媽媽。

  • She lives really close by, but she would probably appreciate a letter from me.

    她住得很近,但她可能會很感激我的來信。

  • Well, hey, that was just a little English lesson about the difference between like and love.

    嘿,這只是一堂關於喜歡和愛之間區別的英語小課。

  • I'm Bob the Canadian, and you are learning English with me here on this channel.

    我是加拿大人 Bob ,您正在這個頻道上和我一起學習英語。

  • I love snow, but you can see it landing on my face here while I'm making this video, and it's just making me laugh a little bit.

    我喜歡雪,但當我製作這個影片時,你可以看到它落在我的臉上,這讓我笑了一點。

  • Anyways, where was I?

    總之,我講到哪了?

  • Please subscribe if you are new here, and give me a thumbs up if this video helped you learn just a little bit more English.

    如果您是新來的,請訂閱,如果該影片幫助您多學一點英語,請按讚。

  • And while you're here, why don't you stick around and watch another video?

    既然您在這裡,為什麼不留下來觀看另一個影片呢?

So, I'm pretty excited today because it's finally snowing here in Canada and I love snow.
