Hello, everyone, and welcome to another video.

Now Today's video is in response to a suggestion by Steve Smith here from the comments section, he asked if I could make a video regarding Intel's fifth generation Broadwell processes.

And as it happens, I've been wanting to get around to this for a while.

First appearing in late 2014 as mobile processes under the core in Siri's, Intel's Broadwell lineup didn't replace the full range of previous Jen has well processes like you would usually expect.

In fact, aside from the long list of mobile Broadwell CP use, there were only a couple of desktop processes released under this architecture.

To me, these Broadwell desktop offerings are among the most interesting of Intel's process.

They are the core I 5 56 75 c on the core, I 7 57 75 c and chances are you might not have heard of them.

Priced at 276 and $366 respectively, at launch in June 2015 they were ever so slightly more expensive than top tier Fourth generation has well, predecessors like the Eye 5 46 90 k and the Ice 7 47 70 k, yet weren't too different in performance.

So here's a little more history about these chips.

With Broadwell Intel primarily focused on CP use for the mobile market desktop.

Broadwell processes continue toe well, just not exist until the company finally launched the I five and I seven just months before Sky Lake was due to release in more traditional fashion Sky Lakewood feature four lineup of New CP Use ranging all the Way from My Sevens all the way down to sell a Ron's using a brand new socket Broadwell desktop CP Use were just too late and too expensive to make sense, especially since they were on offer for way above the recommended retail price.

On what also pretty scares even today, finding one on the used market at a sensible price is a rarity.

But there was a pretty significant feature that makes these two chips unique, and it's perhaps the most exciting thing about them.

They both feature Intel Iris Pro 6200 integrated graphics usually found in Apple I Mac desktops and available in Intel's New Nuck.

Many pieces Irish pro graphics outperformed the HD 4600 I GPU found on previous Gen High End I Sevens and I fires.

At the time, the Iris Pro 6200 featured 48 execution units, as well as 128 megabytes of embedded d ram on the process of package.

To put it simply, this imbedded D RAM increases performance by avoiding transactions that previously would have been designated to system memory.

One such intensive task that benefited from these graphics was gaming, Although weaker than am these modern Vega eight and 11 graphics found on the 2200 and 2400 G.

Iris Pro fared generally better than AM D's, a 10 78 70 k, the company's flagship AP you at the time.

Just remember the insane difference in price, though I have a few game benchmark results to show you here that were sent to me a while ago regarding the cheaper I 5 56 75 C.

And if we take a quick look at the figures, you'll see that while the Irish Pro graphics were certainly fairly capable at reduced settings, this doesn't really make up for the price you would have had to pay, especially since most people buying I fives or I sevens are likely going to pair them with discreet graphics cards, in which case, the then cheaper and now significantly cheaper I 7 47 70 k or 47 90 k would have been the smarter purchase.

When the next generation skylight processes did release just a few months later, some people were a little disappointed to find their intel had gone back to standard H D graphics, which makes the Broadwell see serious desktop chips something truly unique, although not really all that recommended due to the high prices and limited availability.

So that's the story of desktop ruled well, the processes that uses demanded Intel released late on, then nobody wanted because I hope you've enjoyed today's video.

It's been a little bit different, but I found the whole concept of these older fifth generation Broadwell CPU is very interesting, and I hope you guys did a swell.
