2017 was an eventful year for the Disney theme parks in

California and Florida a lot of exciting news was revealed at the d23 Expo in July of 2017

Giving us a look into what we can expect at the parks in the next four years in

2017 we also lost two classic Disney attractions the great movie ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios

And Ellen's energy adventure at Epcot both were closed to make way for

Future new additions to the parks you can check out our video talking about the top ten

2017 it was also announced that Star Wars

Galaxies edge would be home to the land of Batou and Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland both

Incorporated Batou into the ending of their rides aside from theme park announcements and closures

We definitely saw many additions to the ride

attraction and show lineups across a lot of the business in parks at both resorts so as

2017 comes to a close today, we're gonna be counting down the top 10 new Disney rides and attractions

added to Disneyland and Disney World's in

2017

rivers of light

We're gonna start our list off at Walt Disney World in Florida as part of animal kingdom's initiative to build up its nighttime offerings

rivers of light opened on February 17th

2017 after almost a year of delays it was originally set to open on April 22nd 2016

But the show faced many unexpected obstacles and wasn't ready

So it was very exciting to finally get this new nighttime show opened in

2017 the show celebrates the majesty of nature and includes live performers a variety of floating barges

fountains

special effects and animal imagery projected on giant water screens

The show really fits the whole vibe of what animal

Kingdom is all about and is a welcome addition to the Walt Disney World's nighttime entertainment lineup

Number nine the Main Street Electrical Parade

Heading across the coast to Disneyland in California

January 19th

2017 marked the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade back to California from Florida

It had been 21 years since the parade was last seen down Main Street at Disneyland

Now bringing this classic parade back to the park where it originated was the final

Goodbye to a piece of Disney history that had been around for decades

the parade remained the exact same

Including the baroque hoedown theme and aside from the floats needing some general maintenance there were only a few changes made to them the drum

Changed from Disney's electrical parade back to its original Disneyland presents the Main Street Electrical Parade

Also one of the preneur units was omitted due to the float being damaged during the shipment from Florida to California

The parade was supposed to run until June 18th, but due to its popularity

Disney extended it until August 20th 2017 then it glowed away forever in Disney history

number 8 miss adventure Falls

2017 also saw the first new water experience added to Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World since

2005 miss adventure falls first opened on March 12

2017 and is a family raft attraction that takes riders on a fast paced journey passing by

Artifacts from the captain Mary's ship and it also features an audio-animatronic

Duncan is the captain Mary's parrot and diving partner who can be seen as you descend up the lift Hill

It's a nice little added touch that you wouldn't normally see on a water attraction like this

but it's something that's

Distinctly Disney the scenery around the ride is very lush and provides a fun family experience that includes

Open enclosed slide sections as well as waterfalls for riders to cool off on a hot day at Typhoon Lagoon

number 7 rivers of America

Heading back to Disneyland

2017 also brought major changes to rivers of America at the park in

preparation for Star Wars Galaxies edge the back part of the rivers of America had been drained and reshaped

shortening the river to accommodate this new addition well between June and July of

2017 many attractions around the that had been closed since January 2016

Finally reopened with the newly designed portion of the rivers of America

including Tom Sawyer Island the Davy Crockett canoes the Mark Twain riverboat the sailing ship

Columbia and the Disneyland railroad the newly designed back side of the river is called the Columbia Gorge section

Highlighted by five waterfalls and several elevated trestles that the Disneyland railroad passes through

Although the river did get slightly smaller Disney added a lot of new detail into the modified section

there's

Definitely a lot to keep your eyes busy while you Coast on the Mark Twain riverboat or ride along the new tracks of the Disneyland

number six the Hall of Presidents

just making it in time for

2017 and after an 11 month closure the Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom finally reopened on December 19th

2017 here Disney debuted their newest

audio-animatronic of the President and also added a new video

score

Narration and upgraded the overall technology of the show it's no secret that the Magic Kingdom can get really busy and needs all the ride

Capacity it can get so the reopening of the 700 seat Hall of Presidents auditorium

Definitely added some much-needed capacity to the park. It was great getting this classic Disney attraction reopened in

2017 and adding it back to the roster of attractions at Magic Kingdom

number five guardians of the galaxy

2017 also saw some major changes happen at Disney, California Adventure

Tower of Terror closed on January 3rd

2017 and after a very quick four month turnaround it reopened as a brand new attraction on May 27th

2017

guardians of the galaxy mission breakout is the first ride at the American Disney parks to be based off Marvel characters

the original Tower of Terror facade received a complete facelift

transforming the exterior into the collectors fortress

The rides cue was also remodeled to resemble the interior of the collectors archives

And the showrooms said goodbye to rod sterling and now features a rocky raccoon

It's still a drop tower dark ride so definitely be prepared to scream

But also be prepared to laugh this time you're part of Rocket Raccoon scheme to free the Guardians

Just as he cuts the power and tries to regain control of the lift

There are six different versions of the ride each with its own song visuals and drop sequence. That's sure to make you scream

Number four happily ever after

2017 brought a lot of brand-new nighttime entertainment to the parks which also included happily ever after

May 12th 2007 marked the debut of this brand-new nighttime fireworks

spectacular which replaced the long-running wishes fireworks show

Happily ever after features more lasers lights and projections than any Disney show has ever seen before

It features a catchy new score with a great theme song along with other songs from Disney hit classics like Moana

frozen Aladdin tangled Hunchback of Notre Dame

Hercules and so many more Disney did a great job incorporating new modern technology

into their classic style of fireworks storytelling happily-ever-after

Has definitely become a hit at Magic Kingdom and is a great way to end your day at the theme park?

Number three

Fantasmic after going dark for your year and a half while Disney drain the rivers of America

fantasmic returned to Disneyland in July of

2017 as a newly updated nighttime spectacular the show saw quite a few changes that included new orchestrations and

Brand-new musical score segments it also saw a lot of new characters

Integrated into the show like aladdin and Jasmine on the magic carpet and Captain Jack Sparrow on the Columbia

Disney also used a lot of newer technology like projection mapping

Lasers and upgraded projectors, there's quite a few differences when you compare it to the original

Fantasmic, but this update was Disney's way of keeping the show fresh and relevant for the new generation of fantasmic fans it

Still has that wow factor throughout the entire show and keeps the disney magic alive in a brand new modern way

Number two

Pandora the world of Avatar

2017 was a big year for Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Pandora the world of Avatar officially opened on May 27th

2017 and Disney hit a home run with this brand-new 12 acre land

When Disney Imagineer Joe rody is involved in a project?

You know it's going to be highly detailed and immersive, which is exactly what pandora offers guests

Walking into the slush new land at Animal Kingdom is

breathtaking from your first glimpse of seeing the floating mountains right in the center of the land to the

cascading waterfalls the variety of unique landscaping and the

bioluminescent plants oh and the food and drinks to the land is an attraction in itself and although you can spend hours just

Exploring the details of the land, there's two unique experiences, it offers as well

number one the rides of Pandora Pandora also brought two brand new attractions into animal kingdom

avatar flight a passage and the Navi river journey ride flight of passage is a 3d augmented reality flying simulator

Attraction that guests to ride on the back of a banshee as you soar across the landscape of Pandora

It's definitely an experience unlike any other at a Disney park

I mean where else are you able to feel a banshee breathing against your legs?

Not only is this ride highly immersive and thrilling

but it's Q and preshow are also very detailed right from the outside of the mountain into the

bioluminescent forest and past the indoor Live with the floating

which is a four and a half minute dark ride that takes guests aboard a boat through the caspian river and the

bioluminescent forests of pandora the ride, also features Disney's most advanced

audio-animatronic created to date the Navi chemin of songs

The new rides in land really complete your whole experience at animal kingdom creating a day filled with laughs

thrills and adventures
