a. tough (adj.) 棘手的；艱苦的；堅韌的
-> I have a tough decision to make.

-> The bag is made of a tough material, so that it won’t get damaged easily.

b. rough (adj.) 艱難的；粗糙的(=coarse)
-> The company has had a rough year.

c. trying (adj.) 難受的
= difficult to deal with
= hard to put up with
-> Facing trying times can make you a stronger person.

在今年的年度信件中，梅琳達和我挑出幾個我們所被問到最棘手的問題，並提出我們的回答。其中有一個是已經存在很久的提問：在我們讓世界上的人們變得越來越健康的同時，人口是否將會因此增長到出現糧食短缺問題而無法餵飽所有的人，以及生態環境是否會變得難以維護？
【心得】如果像影片說的人越健康，生育率及生育意願越低的話，雖說這樣可能就不會有人口過剩的問題，但人口的組成應該也會出現不平衡的狀態吧!?
