I don't actuallyworkthereanymore, but I'veworkedthereprettyrecently, and I didworktherefor a fullyear.
Sowhat I havetosayisprettyuptodaybecausethey'reinterestedinfindingoutmoreabouthow I gotmyjobinAmericanEagleandlikethehiringaninterviewprocess, I'm goingtolink a videorighthereandinthedescriptionthat I madeearliertalkingaboutallofthatjazz.
So I startedworkingAmericanEagleinAugust 2014 andwhen I startedworking, therewasmyfirstjoband I was 16.
I rememberthefirstday I cameintowork.
I waslike, scaredshitless.
I wassoterrifiedthatmeupinthefront, foldingclothesandgreetingcustomersandtellingthemaboutthesalesandpromotionsandstuff.
I wassoscaredtotalktoallrestrangers.
Myheartwaslikeliterallybeatingoutofmychestandalsomyfirstday I actuallyforgottoclockin.
I thought I wasbeingclockedinautomaticallyorsomething, whichwasdumb.
So I workedinthefrontfor a fullhourbefore I realizedthat I haven't clockedin.
Andthenwhensomebodytoldmethat I neededtobeclockedin, I ranovertotheregistersandtriedtoclockin, leavingthefrontunattended, whichapparentlyislike a bignonoinretail, which I alsodidn't know.

Withthatstoryoutoftheway, I guess I willmoveontomydutiesas a salesassociatewhenyoustartouttheyhaveyoudomorebasicteststhattakelesstraining.
So, likegreetingcustomersfoldingclothes.
When I firststartedout, theyactuallyputmeintheback, sortingoutclearance a lot, probablybecausetheyrealizedaftermyfirstdaythat I wasreally, reallyscaredofgreetingcustomers.
Eventually, after, like a monthofworkingthere, theyputmeonmyfirstclosingshift.
Posingforthoseofyouwhodon't knowisbasicallyjusthaving a shiftattheendoftheday, whereyouhavetofoldtheclothesandstayafterthecustomer, they'regoneandkindofmakesurethisstoreisallinorder.
Youcouldjustkindofjamoutwhileyoufoldtheclothesfor a couplehours, andthenafterworkingtherefor a couplemonths, theystartedputtingmeonthefittingrooms, whichisdefinitely a taskfor, like, Mawrexperiencedworkers.
Basically, I wouldtaketheclothesfromthecustomerswhowouldlineupinthefittingroomsandescortthemoverto a fittingroom, writetheirnameonthedoorandwhiteboardmarker.
I wouldalsohavetoletthemknowthattheycouldpressthebuttonontheinsideof a fittingroomiftheyneededhelp.

Butitturnsout I wasactuallyprettygoodatit, andafterthattheykeptputtingmeon.
Fittingroomsactuallyreallylikedthefittingroomsbecause I didn't havetogouptocustomersandbotherthemaboutsalesandtellthemthingsthattheydidn't reallywanttohear.
Theywerecomingtomeand I couldhelpthemoutiftheyneededany.
And I couldalsohelpkeepthestoreandorder.
Also, itwasreallynicebecausewhenitwasn't busyor I wasreallytired, I couldkindofjustsitonthefittingroomstoolsandtextdiscreetlyaboutninemonthsintoworkingAmericanEagle, whichisprettylateformostpeople.
Andifyou'regoodatconvincingpeopleandcomfortableconvincingpeopletosignupfor a creditcard, thenyoucanreallyusethejobtoyouradvantage, andyou'llprobablybereallygoodatthejob.
But I wassuperuncomfortabletryingtopersuadepeopletogetcreditcardsbecause I knewthatnoneofthewantedit.
Andprobablyforsomepeople, itwasn't a goodfinancialdecision.
Soluckily, mymanagerhaskindoffiguredthatoutthere, like a littlebitsaltyonmethattheyhadbotheredtrainingmeand I didn't likeworkingonregister, butthenafterthat, theyputmebackonfittingrooms.
Oratleast I thoughttheywerewhen I firstmetthem, theyalwaysmadereally, reallystrongeyecontactwithme, whichisprobablythescariestthingbut a shoton 16 yearoldcouldeverencounter.
Butonce I gottoknowthem, I guesstheyweren't toobad.
