They also need to be great communicators, with strong interpersonal skills. Dean of Engineering, Professor Scott Smith. [Professor Scott Smith Dean of Engineering] Professor Scott Smith: Engineering, is problem solving. At a deeper level, engineering would be about understanding the laws of nature and using those laws to create solutions for the betterment of humanity. Narrator: Through its School of Environment, Science and Engineering, Southern Cross University teaches undergraduate degrees in civil and mechanical engineering at its state-of-the-art science and engineering precinct. Professor Andrew Rose: This bit of equipment here replicates one of the classic experiments in fluid dynamics. There's work locally, there's also work nationally and there's work internationally. Certainly an engineering degree is a very transferable degree that can be applied all around the world.
