Many of our graduates have gone on to get great positions in Fisheries, Department of Primary Industries and National Parks. Our graduates also go into private industry working in with organisations that do things like environmental impact statements, monitoring road developments and those sorts of things. One of the things that we strive to do with our degree is make sure that our graduates are up-to-date with current industry practice so many of our students spend eight weeks working with an industry partner. That's a great transition between being a student and then becoming a professional working in environmental science and management. In the degree we've got four majors. The first major is coastal management. In that major what we do is focus on the impact that increasing population has on the coastal zone. The second one is environmental resource management and in that major what we do is that we focus on things like catchment management, mine rehabilitation, the impact that agriculture has on the environment. The third one is fisheries and aquaculture management. We not only focus on aquaculture management, we focus on recreational and commercial fisheries as well, and in that degree we focus a lot on mitigation and habitat management. Waste management and resource recovery is a big priority now and it's going to be a priority into the future. What we've done is designed a major which produces multi-skilled professionals for this growing area of Environmental Management.
