  • way were disappointed with the outcome of the vote yesterday, and especially really, the level of ritual that was thrown at Nadine Dorries for what we believe was actually a very modest amendment to just introduce the option option.

  • Not even compulsory of independent counseling for women who are considering having an abortion.

  • And counseling is not tied up as it as it is at the moment with the financial vested interests of the abortion industry.

  • So we felt it was a modest proposal which was defeated.

  • However, there are some positives that we can draw from it, the main one being the health minister, and Milton has basically offered to relook it the whole spirit of the amendment and she said, to offer a choice of independent counseling.

  • So they're making a commitment to look at this and to presumably have a consultation of public consultation.

  • Now we'll have to see how that evolves in practice.

  • But clearly CMF will respond to that and try to get involved as we can to that whole process, and that will be a very important follow up to this.

  • So that's one big positive from this someone.

  • I think it's also encouraging that well over 100 think it was.

  • 118 MPs voted in favor of the amendment.

  • That was good.

  • And obviously the whole debate has just raised the whole issue in the public profile on the public awareness on.

  • So our hope is that really this debate takes the whole issue of counseling right back toe the heart off it, which is the needs for women who are considering having an abortion for them to have proper, independent, impartial, accurate, comprehensive advice before they make their decision.

  • One of the things that we do also believe is really important is that women aren't being given full information on the risks they face when they're choosing to have an abortion on.

  • That's Bean highlighted.

  • Just last week, when a new article was published, a piece of research was published in the very prestigious Journal of Psychiatry, which highlighted the risks that women face to their mental health when they have an abortion.

  • On.

  • That risk has been shown to be nearly double the risk that women who go forward and ahead with the pregnancy face so the risk is doubled.

  • And actually, if this research found that 10% of or mental health problems in the UK for women can be directly linked to abortion.

  • Now the problem is, at the moment, most women don't know about the risks that they face when they choose the option of abortion on DDE.

  • What we believe with counseling is that women that kind of information is part off the counseling process.

  • Women need to be able to make an informed decision before they go ahead with either abortion or keeping the way.
