This is a huge win for Joe Biden.

Hillary Clinton won this state four years ago, but just barely.

This was a state that both candidates him and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders were competing in up until the end.

And right there, Joe Biden with a big win in Missouri.

We could also project tonight that Joe Biden has one in the state of Mississippi.

This was unexpected win.

Not a huge surprise here, but nonetheless, between those states, we have more than 100 delegates tonight.

Joe Budden winning in both those states.

And we're also watching Michigan the big prize tonight.

Too close to call right now.

Not enough the vote in right there.

But you can see these.

They're only separated by about 5000 votes right now.

Of course, Bernie Sanders one here Four years ago, this was his big upset.

He's hoping for a win tonight.

Polls show Joe Biden it could be a night for him, but again, still so early tonight.

And we're also getting voter data coming in from exit polls.

Lindsay Davis, You want to talk about Mississippi tonight?

Sure.

You know, I'm reminded of the South Carolina representative James Clyburn a few weeks ago when he endorsed Joe Biden.

He said, I know Joe, we know Joe, but Joe knows us, and that is certainly a message that seems to have resonated with black people across the country.

I mean, if you look at Mississippi, this is his biggest win yet with black voters.

This is bigger than what we saw in Alabama, Virginia, South Carolina.

He is one with 86% of the black vote in Mississippi, and we're talking.

About 64% of Democratic voters there in Mississippi are black, and then take a look at this.

This was also interesting coming out of Mississippi.

When they were asked if they wanted a return to Obama policies for the next president, 61% said yes, so it makes sense.

Then 61% of them 90% of that 61% then voted for Joe Biden, but again just overwhelming support.

86% of black boots and it shows that black voters are staying with Joe Biden.

They're happy with him.

They're happy with what he's selling so far.

And Joe is building a coalition of the entire South, and I know we're just getting started tonight, but in a week we have Florida, which is attached to all these other states, and we have Louisiana down the road.

But this is all a very good sign for Joe Biden, as we head into the future of this campaign is certainly a good son.

And people are thinking many people are thinking this is gonna be 1/3 Obama term, right?

And that's what they're basically signing up for and saying, Yes we want.

And when you look at these states going forward, Sanders, they're not necessarily states that are either very supportive of him or very delegate rich.

All right, Lindsay, with that, we want to go over to Nate Silver from our partners at FiveThirtyEight.

Nate.

So So we're calling Mississippi.

We're calling Missouri.

We're projecting those were wins for Joe Biden.

What does this tell you so far?

Not very much, because these are states where you would expect Joe Biden to do will probably eventually win every single state in the South.

I'm starting much Michigan, their arm or votes coming in than you would think.

Biden's up about 13 points in our count.

Of course, Michigan is a lot of regional variation, But look, the thing about this, let's say Bernie Sanders is a miraculous comeback in Michigan, despite the early returns in the polls.

If he wins Michigan by a point and biting winds, Mississippi by 50 and Missouri by 20 and he's looking at one that probably more delegates on the evening.

So this is partly about the moral victory now for Bernie, with with Missouri Mississippi being called early enough where we're gonna probably assume a fairly big biting delegate, they gain there.

Talk to me about the path for people who've been watching the race, but they haven't been following it as closely as we have.

Why does it get so hard for Bernie Sanders after Michigan if he doesn't win there?

Because the next set of states are mostly pretty bad for for For Bernie, right?

You have Florida, where you have a lot of old people.

Old people do not like Bernie Sanders.

Very much 200 something delegates and buying is gonna win a huge majority of delegates.

There you have Georgia, which resembles South Carolina the week after next, which is gonna go very strongly in all probability for Joe Biden.

So Bernie can't break even in states like Michigan.

He has to win Michigan by 10 points or something has to in Washington by 15 points.

Remember in 2016 all those Western states for caucuses, winning by 30 or 40 points, getting huge numbers of delegates keeping comparative.

So we see Washington and even Idaho be close, then that's that's on track with a with a biting majority of burning majority.
