  • Hi there. Welcome to Harry's World of Words and Phrases and English in a Minute. We're

  • going to look at some idiomatic phrases or idioms or phrases depending you want to describe

  • them. Idioms are used a lot in the English language. You hear them in films, you hear

  • them in people's ocnversations, you read them in articles. And sometimes not quite sure

  • what they mean. And when somebody uses them there is no hint from what they say as to

  • exactly what it means. Let me give you an example. So Under the Weather. If I said to

  • you I am feeling under the weather today what does that mean? Well, let me give you an example.

  • When you walk into a room or into your office and somebody is caughing and spluttering and

  • sneezing. And you say: "Oh, how are you feeling? Are you ok?" "Oh I am a little under the weather"

  • meaning I am not well. Okay. So anytime that you're feeling a little sick or a little bit

  • of a headcold or "man" flu as we like to call it then you can say I am feeling under the

  • weather. How is he today? Oh he is under the weather, I wouldn't disturb him. Okay. So

  • remember as always to subscribe to our Channel and join us on www.englishlessonviaskype.com

  • and we'll catch up with you very soon.
