  • well, since we got to talk to you back here in the back after a win.

  • So it's right, Julian Idea How feels right now.

  • Finally, back in the win column.

  • Two years, man, I remember speaking Tau Alpha, Hi fi, Los Angeles.

  • He he he told me, You know, it's before one of Miss fights.

  • He fought talks after Dean.

  • He's like, Man, I haven't had a victory in a year now And I thought to myself, Man, I don't know how I would deal with that.

  • And then I got two years without a victory and lingering injuries and things like that.

  • It's It's been something crazy.

  • And I'm so grateful.

  • God has Ah, in my darkest moments he's picked me up and put me back on my feet, and I truly appreciate that.

  • I was gonna ask me along that strips were there times where you got, like, the worst things.

  • When you think the worst things you think about like what if What about the next fight?

  • If I lose the next fight, am I gonna retire?

  • Um, I done with UFC.

  • Is the UFC gonna kick me out like the worst things come to your mind.

  • And you, you I think the worst thing is gonna happen.

  • You don't think the best thing is gonna happen and that's that's where I think Scripture for me, so important to go in there and it just rebuilds me, brings me back to life, and I'm that's that's been the key thing for me to be able to get back out here and to get a win.

  • How did you trust the process?

  • A little way.

  • I mean, you know, sometimes people make crazy changes or move or you know something along those lines.

  • I did make changes.

  • I'll be honest with you.

  • I opened up a gym about 23 years ago, and, uh, before I opened up the gym, I was six and one.

  • I I had a really big run, and after I opened up the gym, I I was 23 and one I was teaching almost full time, and ah, and I really love the gym.

  • Don't get me wrong, it's It's a passion for me.

  • But I realized I can't do both, so I I for for this fight, I actually put the gym completely aside.

  • I didn't teach much classes.

  • I think maybe once every two weeks, once every week.

  • And that really made a difference.

  • And then coming out here three weeks out, complete isolation from everybody from everything.

  • I stayed in the mountains and I love my family.

  • I miss my nieces.

  • I think the most I miss my mother, Miss my sister, my friends.

  • But that gave me drive a focus.

  • I was hungry.

  • And, uh, I think that that that that made the difference in this fight.

  • Did you feel that you have a lot of super frustrated about the choke.

  • I got to get back and figure that out.

  • I've never really had that issue before.

  • Most people, when I turned their chin that the chin pops up, his didn't, and that's why I couldn't get a full grip on that.

  • So I think one of the things what I'm going to try to do is, uh, just thinking about it.

  • I haven't watched the video, so I I'm not sure, but I'm gonna keep a gable on tryto squeeze out the gable until I'm I can go through the choke completely.

  • But that's just the process right now.

  • I actually have to go back and look at it and see what I need to do and go from there last week for me.

  • I'm sure you want a basket.

  • Enjoy for this moment for a little bit.

  • But you an idea what the future holds me?

  • What do you want to see you next?

  • Uh, I'm I'm fresh.

  • I don't have injuries.

  • I don't have ah specific an opponent to call out.

  • I do call out.

  • Somebody's gonna be my cousin Elbert.

  • She just got married.

  • So, uh, or or a stale bread will bet.

  • Ah, like I'm, you know, phone my little Emma.

  • Tom.

  • Adorable.

  • Diane got through from the Syrian.

  • Just said God bless you guys and keep you.

  • I spoke to him and he took a deep breath, and he's like, I think he was, like, trying to say he's tired, and I said to him a good fight.

  • How long have you been out here?

  • That was the first thing I said to him.

  • I think he said to me a week and I said, Brother, I'll be honest with you, man.

  • It's not enough.

  • If you're fighting announced to I think minimum three weeks.

  • What?

  • Oh, take the fight on five weeks notice you.

  • And the thing is, five weeks is enough to get in good shape.

  • But if you don't come into altitude at three of those weeks here, you're going to struggle.

  • And I felt it was really strong in the first round.

  • He threw me with The Wizard a couple of times here and there, but that kind of worked into my game because the more he's little exploding while I'm just hanging on it.

  • Just, you know, I'm not really using much energy.

  • And he's using all those All that explosion, which kind of went into the second round, and I started, be able to move him a lot easier to get two takedowns and almost had the choke couple of times what that was.

  • Cool, man.

  • Imagine 25 years and I get I got to be on the anniversary, super grateful to Sean Shelby.

  • I actually have to go apologize tell because, like when he first said this guy was like Shawn, you know, I got to come out here three weeks out financially, that's tough, my family and things like that.

  • But in reality was the best thing that could have been so go back there and be like Shawn.

  • My bad.

  • I shouldn't have questioned you and thanks, bro.

  • He really is the best in the business.

  • Fine.

  • Maybe.

  • Maybe even if it's not out to get yourself away.

  • Honestly, I'm thinking about it.

  • Maybe we just go out to the era area two weeks out for altitude.

  • Three weeks, Because you gotta adjust, but maybe just get away from everything.

  • And just just think about the fight for for the for the last 14 days.

  • Maybe do that.

  • We'll figure out something at home work and get I got to figure it out.

  • I'm gonna definitely spend some time praying on it and, uh, get to work on that.

  • Another thing, too, is I might speak with Shawn right now.

  • I don't feel any injuries, you know, after a fight.

  • Adrenaline, You don't feel anything.

  • But I'm going with for the troops, I think December 12th.

  • So before that curly in great shape, no injuries.

  • If something pops up, I'm gonna I'm gonna let show No, You know, I really think I'm healthy.

  • And if it's in God's plans, I'll jump back in there and get another fight quick.

  • I wasn't finished.

  • So seven a half it was the finish.

  • I would I would have been happy.

  • But the second in the third round, it should have been a finish, you know, so disappointing.

  • Well, or I I think he has great potential.

  • I mentioned it earlier.

  • I think he's capable of becoming a champion.

  • Because I I watched the striking very good striking.

  • Ah.

  • Couple of things I could criticizes the fact that he lets you put him on the cage.

  • Don't stay on the cage.

  • Get off the cage for him.

  • And, um, don't go for that guillotine so much.

  • If it didn't work the first time, don't risk it.

  • Second time's your arms are gonna give up.

  • But I really believe he has the potential to be a champion.

  • Confident, striking, confident is jujitsu.

  • Almost arm for me, man, that was That would have been really embarrassing.

  • If you got that armbar.

  • I'm jujitsu.

  • Black belt.

  • I won a world championship at White about bluebell, purple belt, brown belt, and then I moved into may imagine getting caught in the first.

  • What was that?

  • One minute, two minutes of the fight that would have broke my heart.

  • So for guys to him.

  • I think he fought a great fight.

  • Just it was my day choke.

  • Yeah.

  • Uh, dude, it sucks for the rough because I can understand the ref saying, Oh, well, he was kind of limp, but at the same time, what he's saying makes perfect sense.

  • He hip escapes out you want when you're stuck in the door, so you want to come on top of the guy because that angle relieves the pressure.

  • And, uh, when you come on top of that, you relax.

  • So he doesn't know who's grabbing his arm.

  • He's just trying to relax because it gives a room to breathe and the ref stops it.

  • So, I mean, the ref couldn't have known.

  • He probably thought he was out.

  • I just feel for the guy.

  • Honestly, I really do.

  • I I don't think that should have been considered a Finnish.

  • Worst case, bro.

  • Just started standing again.

  • Honestly, just arms today, or like we're like, Okay, what's his name that had the choke?

  • You know, Moffett, maybe give him the round and then just go forward into the third.

  • It's to die rather lose around, then get finished.

  • You know, uh, super frustrating to watch.

  • I felt I felt bad for him.

  • I like that.

  • But it didn't change anything.

  • It didn't change anything, I thought.

  • I mean, he saw He's like, Okay, didn't tap.

  • And he wasn't out, but it didn't change anything you want.

  • Okay?

  • Me ditching something.

  • I'm sorry.

  • It wasn't a submission.

  • It was a T K.

  • Oh, right.

  • That was the finish, Cotton.

  • Come on, man.

  • I think I think it's okay for a referee to say, Hey, you know what?

  • I did screw up.

  • I didn't see it.

  • I thought I saw something.

  • I didn't see it.

  • Let's figure something out.

  • Don't Don't just give the guy of win my opinion, but we can look into that.

  • I guess the UFC can look into that.

  • The commission can look into that.

  • I think one of things.

  • What the commission is they have to be sometimes okay with saying, Oh, we're wrong.

  • I've noticed with the commission it's almost impossible to get them to say we made a mistake and I'm not tryingto hold it up on them.

  • I know that there's a lot of pressure on the commission and they have a tough job and they're under appreciated.

  • We're grateful for the commission.

  • Don't get me wrong, but no one's perfect.

  • You make a mistake, try to correct it.

  • Work my pleasure.

well, since we got to talk to you back here in the back after a win.
