  • you think one of us one of his family killed Mr Blanc.

  • I just buried my father who committed suicide.

  • Why are you here?

  • I suspect foul played.

  • I've loved too.

  • Done.

  • It's And I got the Christie books since I was a kid.

  • I mean, I think one of the really fun things about it, you get both the kind of the brain puzzle of, ah, little puzzle box that you can figure out with solution.

  • But then also, it's a very character based genre.

  • You have because you have all the suspects.

  • You usually have a very diverse rogue's gallery of big, fun personalities in the movie, especially when you get great cast together like this, it's up an opportunity to have a lot of fun.

  • Well, this particular one is so fun because it's ah, it's full of great humor, good laughs and the characters were just hilarious and and messed up, and they're just crazy.

  • When people get desperate.

  • Thing is a twisted way.

  • We're not finished on tangle in it.

  • I came up with the basic idea for this about 10 years ago, so I've been kind of figuring out the mechanics of it for a long while, but, um but no, that's something actually, like figuring out the plot and everything.

  • That's that's it's it's work.

  • But it's the the more difficult thing is actually figuring out how to get some kind of emotional story into it, because I wanted it to be satisfying beyond just the magic trick puzzle box part that wanted to be satisfying on a few different levels as a movie up your ass.

  • Very matter of fact, she definitely each well, Daniel Craig was the 1st 1 that signed on, and I think once Daniel was on board, that meant that we were making the movie.

  • And so we had to very quickly gather a cast together, and I think it kind of snowballed because everyone wants to work with Daniel.

  • And then once the cat once Michael Shannon signed up, everyone wants to work with him, and then Jamie occurred this and lookie Stanfield, Don Johnson said.

  • Everybody just kind of started jumping in and slowly is our caste grew.

  • I was looking at all the pictures on the wall and getting more and more nervous about on more and more star struck, but everyone turned out turned up and just ready to have a good time.

  • We shot in this big house in New England and, uh, it was really fun, because all we had all these movie stars all together for these big scenes and then in between takes, they wouldn't go back to their trailer.

  • That would go down in the basements of this house to this, like little rec room and sit around a foosball table and just hang out.

  • And it was like it felt like summer camp in between shots in between setups.

  • We would go down into a room about this size and we would sit there and tell stories about our careers and each other and and relationships and stuff.

  • And I mean, it was like summer stock.

  • We had the best time when we all got together.

  • It was instantly genuine respect among each other and and support.

  • And, um, that's what makes for really good screen performances is when you have chemistry and you have You have people that really love what they do, and that's clearly the case with this cast.

  • Then you have the opportunity to set the table for magic Tap.

  • Is that guy Mr Blanc is a private investigator of great renown.

  • I read a tweet about a New Yorker article about you, your fate.

  • What?

  • He's really funny guy.

  • That's the thing.

  • I if you just know him from seeing him Miss James Bond, you might think he's a very serious guy.

  • He is.

  • He's got a great sense of humor is really, really fun.

  • And I just like, met Daniel a few times over the years.

  • So I knew that he they he had that side to him.

  • And I also knew he was just a tremendous actor with great range and er I was, Yeah, but I had no clue he was gonna It was gonna, you know, go where he went in this movie.

  • Do you really have the blast?

  • Well, I've known that that Daniel is a is A is a really fine actor because I've seen him in other things before.

  • And I also share a similar understanding with him about playing iconic characters.

  • Um, and so, um, we both know that it's, ah, it's it's a It's a risk every time you step out and take on something that's wildly different than what you're known for.

  • But I think he's so goodness, I can't imagine anyone walking away and not going.

  • Wow, that guy's cut the goods.

  • All of them lied to me.

  • Theories, sworn fealty policy behind it all.

  • Yeah, he plays Ben Wa Blanc, and he's got a American Southern accents.

  • And he's I mean, I think with all great detective, great, like fiction.

  • Detectives like Poirot or Columbo or Miss Marple, They all have something about, um that makes you not take them seriously.

  • Like Poirot is kind of fussy and clownish, and Colombo is kind of bumbling, and service is just one more.

  • You see, it seems absent minded.

  • And Miss Marble is kind of like the old spinster serving tea and s o It was important with this detective with Benoit Blanc that he has this crazy accent and he's seems a little self inflated.

  • Um, And then you wonder, Is he even, like, really solving this case?

  • And then, of course, Of course he is.

  • What kind of detective would you be in real life?

  • You see, I have an advantage here because I've been a detective many times.

  • So, um, if I word being an actor is being a detective because what you do when you know what I do when I get a script and I decide I'm gonna play a character is I start detective work about who he is, what his background is.

  • What's his emotional makeup?

  • But so it's a It's a deep dive into the suspect.

  • You know how detectives air usually bumbling and forgetful, and then they actually have it all figured out at the end.

  • I would just be the first part.

  • I would just be bumbling and forgetful, and then I would just kind of yeah, not solved the crime at the end and go get a hamburger somewhere.

  • What is this?

you think one of us one of his family killed Mr Blanc.
