  • After months and months of campaigning, it is finally Election Day in the United States.

  • Most polls are expected to open on Tuesday morning, but some parts of the country have

  • already voted and tallied their results.

  • To catch up with the latest developments as voting gets underway, we have Lee Unshin on

  • the line.

  • Unshin, I understand the polls are already open in some places?

  • That's right, Daniel.

  • So according to New Hampshire law, towns with less than 100 residents are allowed to open

  • their polling stations at midnight and close them as soon as all registered voters have

  • cast their ballots.

  • The first town in the state, and the country, to vote is Dixville Notch.

  • Polls there have already closed and the results have been tallied -- with Hillary Clinton

  • beating Donald Trump 4-2.

  • One vote was cast for Gary Johnson and there was one write-in -- for 2012 presidential

  • candidate Mitt Romney.

  • The town has a population of just 12 people... and they started voting as the clock struck

  • midnight on November 8th.

  • But all other polling stations across the nation will open at 6 a.m., or 8 p.m. Korea

  • time, which is just a couple of hours from now, and will close at around 7 p.m. Eastern

  • time.

  • I see, and aside from the results you just reported there from Dixville Notch, when can

  • we expect the first results?

  • Well, it is usually clear who the winner is by around Tuesday evening in the States, or

  • Wednesday at about noon in Korea.

  • But if it's a close race, which it's expected to be, we might not know until Wednesday morning

  • in the U.S., and later on Wednesday here in Korea.

  • Now, the race has tightened up in recent weeks, but the latest polls show Hillary Clinton

  • got a mild bounce from the latest FBI announcement that said she would not face criminal charges

  • after its review of new emails.

  • Clinton leads Trump by four points nationally in a CBS News poll and an ABC/Washington Post

  • poll -- both out Monday local time.

  • In any case, the winner will be the candidate who gets 270 of the available 538 electoral

  • votes.

  • But given the way this campaign has gone so far, the outcome is pretty difficult to predict,

  • so we'll have to keep watching as the results roll in.

  • Back to you Daniel.

After months and months of campaigning, it is finally Election Day in the United States.
