  • -So, that's our argument. Everyone gets covered.

  • No one goes broke.

  • -His bill that you've cosponsored

  • would essentially eliminate private insurance.

  • Is that something you could support?

  • -He's got a runway for that.

  • I think we get everybody together,

  • and that's what it is we'll decide.

  • -Is that the plan or path that you would pursue as president?

  • -So, yes.

  • I'm with Bernie on Medicare for All.

  • Costs will go up for billionaires

  • and go up for corporations.

  • For middle-class families, total costs will go down.

  • -You said their costs would go down,

  • but can you address directly

  • whether taxes like mine would go up?

  • -Out-of-pocket costs for middle-class families

  • are going to go down.

  • Your question is your total cost.

  • -Okay, but there's no answer to the question

  • whether your tax is going up.

  • -There is an answer to the question about your cost.

  • -How about tax?

  • -Because it's costs that matter to people.

  • It's not that I have a plan that says we're gonna do this part

  • and then we're gonna do this part

  • and then we're gonna do this part.

  • No, instead, my plan is we're gonna get to a table like this.

  • We're gonna make sure everybody gets represented.

  • We're gonna understand the urgency of the moment.

  • For hard-working families across this country,

  • costs are gonna go down.

  • -But will their taxes go up?

  • -But here's the thing -- -No, but here's the thing.

  • I've listened to these answers a few times before.

  • -Costs are gonna go down.

  • -But that's not the same as taxes not going up.

  • -What matters to families is cost.

  • It is about what kinds of cost

  • middle-class families are going to face.

  • I said, "I will not sign a bill into law

  • that does not reduce costs for middle-class families."

  • -But what about the tax part of it?

  • That's what I'm asking. I mean, if there's

  • an equation here -- -You just heard it.

  • Over the next few weeks, to put out a plan that talks about,

  • specifically, the cost of Medicare for All

  • and specifically how we pay for it.

  • -Shouldn't you have decided how you're gonna pay for the plan

  • before you released your healthcare plan?

  • -I've been working on the details for a long time.

  • -Why should caucus-goers be confident

  • that it's possible to pay for Medicare for

  • All at all if the leading democratic candidate

  • still needs a couple more weeks

  • to tell them how it's gonna get paid for?

  • -Well, why don't you ask me that when the plan is out?

-So, that's our argument. Everyone gets covered.
