  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Idioms 222. The idiom today is "to get out of bed

  • on the wrong side.' Okay it's usually meant in a humorous way. We usually kind

  • of say it as a joke. But all right. Let's take a look at the note here. If someone

  • gets out of bed on the wrong side. He or she seems to be in a bad mood all day or

  • for most of the day without any apparent reason. So you know you don't really know

  • why. Now they probably do have a reason why, but you just don't know why and you

  • can't figure it out. So they say well I don't know . I don't know why he's angry. I

  • don't know why he's upset today. He must have just got out of bed on the wrong

  • side. That's the way usually people say it. That's the way you usually hear it. So

  • let's look at a couple of examples here. Example number one. Be careful what you

  • say to the boss today. Yeah maybe he's already been moody that day. Maybe he's

  • already yelled at several people that day. He is in a bad mood for some reason.

  • He must have gotten out of bed on the wrong side again. That's the way we would

  • use it. So this, this is probably one employee warning another employee. Be

  • careful what you say to the boss today. He's in a bad mood. He must have gotten

  • out of bed on the wrong side. Okay. And let's look at number two here. That sales

  • clerk was really grumpy. You know, in a bad mood somebody's grumpy this morning.

  • She is usually nice and maybe this is a place you go to often and you know she's

  • usually nice but for some reason today I don't know maybe she's having a bad day.

  • Maybe something personal happened in your life. She is just in a bad mood today.

  • She must have gotten out of bed on the wrong side. So yeah. This is what some people say. Why ?

  • Why do you think she's angry today ? Somebody might answer. Who knows ?

  • She must have gotten out of bed on the wrong side. Okay. Anyway, I hope you got it.

  • I hope it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
