  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Quotes 211. The quote today is another

  • one, I haven't done one in a while by him by Aesop, the Greek fable

  • writer. Remember Aesop's fables. So and this is the quote \" No act of kindness , no

  • matter how small is ever wasted. \" Okay, good. Let's continue. Let's look at the

  • note here. This quote by Aesop comes from his famous fable \"The Lion and the Mouse. \"

  • Yeah. And remember I think I mentioned this in the last ones I did by him.

  • Remember at one time he was a slave and he made most of his fables he used

  • animals in them. And one of the reasons he used animals is because he was really

  • basing the animals on real people , but he didn't want the real people to realize

  • who he was writing about so he substituted animals instead of people. So

  • that's why a lot of his fables actually have animals in them. All right. Let's

  • continue. In the story, a small Mouse is caught by a lion and is set free as an

  • act of kindness instead of being eaten. Even though the lion did catch him first , but

  • still he could have ate him and he decided to set him free. Just, just to be

  • nice. Okay. Later in the story the mouse happens upon the lion trapped in net. So

  • just comes across him by chance. The mouse remembers the kindness of the lion

  • letting him go. He therefore chews through the rope helping to set the lion

  • free. Okay, good. So let's continue. The moral of the story is that you never

  • know an unconditional act of kindness. So unconditional means you know, you don't

  • require that somebody does something else for you. You're just doing this act

  • of kindness just to be nice. You're making no conditions. You're saying well

  • I'll do this for you, if you do this for me. Unconditionally you just do it for

  • them. An unconditional act of kindness done for someone may in some way

  • come back to help you. Okay. It alludes to the idea of karma. If you do good things

  • good things are more likely to come back to you. Of course, that works the opposite

  • way too. So don't do bad things because then also would mean bad things are more

  • likely to come around to you. In English we often describe this as you know, what

  • comes around goes around or we can reverse the same phrase as

  • what goes around comes around. The lion never imagined the mouse would

  • be able to do anything for him. Yet he freed the mouse. So he did this kind act

  • of you know an act of kindness and it ended up saving him as well. Anyway I

  • hope you got it. I hope was clear. Thank you for your time.

  • Bye-bye.
