In this video we're going to look at 5 different ways that you can ask someone how something went in English.

The first and simplest way to ask somebody in English how things have gone is to say:

How did it go?

And the faster version would be:

Imagine you have a friend who just started a new job.

想象一下，你有一個朋友剛剛開始新的工作。

And they've just finished their first day of work.

而他們剛剛結束第一天的工作。

You could ask them:

你可以問他們。

How did it go?

進展如何？

Or:

或者，

How'd it go?

進展如何？

And they could respond with:

而他們可以迴應：

It went very well.

進展非常順利。

Or, it didn't go so well.

或者，它沒有那麼順利。

The second way that you could ask someone how something went is to say:

How did that go?

Or, the faster version:

How'd that go?

Imagine someone has told you that they just used a new recipe to cook a chicken.

想象一下，有人告訴你，他們剛用了一個新的食譜來烹飪一隻雞。

You could say:

你可以說：

Hey Dave, how did that go?

And they could respond with:

而他們可以迴應：

It went very well.

The chicken was delicious.

A third way to ask someone how something went is to ask the question:

How was that? or How was it?

Maybe you have a friend that just told that they went scuba diving.

A way to ask them how it went would be to say:

How was it? or How was that?

They could be used interchangeably.

You could say:

How was it Dave?

And they could respond:

It was amazing.

I saw so many fish.

A fourth way to ask someone how something went is to ask the question:

How did things turn out?

Imagine a friend has borrowed money from you to start a business.

When you see them you could say:

How did things turn out?

And they could respond by saying:

Things are going very well.

事情進展得很順利。

Here is your money back.

Or they might say:

Things aren't going so great.

I won't be able to pay you back for several weeks.

A fifth and final way to ask someone how something went is to ask the question:

How did you make out?

And the faster version would be:

How didja make out? **Not proper written English, but is used in spoken English.

你怎麼做出來的？ **不是正確的書面英語，但在英語口語中使用。

Or:

或者，

Howdya make out? **Not proper written English, but is used in spoken English.

Howdya親熱？ **不是正確的書面英語，但在英語口語中使用。

How did you make out?

你是怎麼做出來的？

How didja make out? **Not proper written English, but is used in spoken English.

你怎麼做出來的？ **不是正確的書面英語，但在英語口語中使用。

Or, Howdya make out? **Not proper written English, but is used in spoken English.

Imagine you have a friend who recently took a driving test.

想象一下，你有一個朋友最近考了駕照。

You could say to them:

你可以對他們說

Hey, how did you make out?

And they could respond by saying:

It went super good.

進展得超級順利。

I passed.

Or, maybe they'll say:

It didn't' go so well.
