Portia and I were just saying the other day

we'd love to go to Berlin. It's supposed to be--

- Have you never been? - No.

- It's awesome, yeah. - And I understand--

I've learned that you have a hobby there that--

- Well, so Berlin is known for its techno

and for its--its clubs, right?

- Its techno music. - Its techno music.

Which I thought I had a real aversion to.

I thought like heavy metal and techno

were the two genres of music

that I just had no kind of tolerance for, right?

You'll go to Berlin, you know, you might change your mind.

- You get sucked into techno? - You get sucked in.

They have this incredible club called Berghain

which is like world renowned.

And, um, so I kind of--

I got in with the guy who knows the owner,

and so we kind of got to go in through the back,

which was really amazing.

But the thing to do is to go on a Sunday.

And people there, you know, they go all weekend long.

- But it's open during the day? - Oh, yeah.

No, for days, plural.

- It's a club that you dance to techno music

during the day. - Yeah.

- Do you know what techno-- can you play some techno music

just so you can understand what she's going to dance to?

[techno music playing] - I'm going to dance to this?

Yeah, no, but that's not the Berghainian way!

- No? - I'm supposed to dance to this?

I can't--well-- - How do you dance to that?

[laughter]

That's what you do?

[cheers and applause]

- Um, no. That's not good techno music, though!

I'm telling--see, that's what I thought of as techno music.

- So we just played bad techno music?

- You played bad techno. - Who picked our techno music?

- All right-- - Um, yeah, no, no, no.

So people go in on Friday and they leave on Monday morning,

and they go straight to work, right?

It's intense.

The last time I went, it was like fetish weekend.

It was kind of int--you know everybody's in black

or nothing at all. It's vast.

It's huge, this place. It's an industrial warehouse--

- I'm sorry, back up, back up, back up.

People are dancing completely naked?

- Yes! Yes!

- That is disgusting. - No, it's actually not.

I mean, not everybody's naked.

- It doesn't matter. If just one per--

Can you imagine?

There's a naked person dancing next to you?

- Yeah, but, okay, so there are different rooms.

It's so huge, there are different experiences,

different areas.

So there's, like, the bottom floor,

which is like the techno, you know, center.

Then there's upstairs, which is a little more playful

and joy--there's like some disco music

and hip-hop and stuff.

There's an ice cream parlor as well in this club.

You can go take a break a have a little ice cream.

It's amazing. It's the best place on Earth.

- Well, do they serve alcohol as well or just ice cream?

- Yes. - Okay, so...

- I was so scared when I first went in.

Really, I had acute anxiety

because I didn't know what to expect, but--

- Because there's naked people eating ice cream.

- [laughs] Yeah!

Um, but it was-- it's a blast.

And a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon,

I'm telling you.

- I think you should start bringing Cyrus,

so I brought--I got something for you

so that you can bring him and still dance.

- It's a BabyBjorn. - Oh, my God, that's amazing!

- Put it on. - That's amazing!

- No, it-- - Oh, it's this way?

- Yeah, it's a Bjorn.

- It's a rave BabyBjorn.

- Yeah, you've got-- - Oh, my God.

And that-- it doesn't get better.

- I think this--I think this comes out.

- Oh, oh, I see. Not the hanger, okay.

Well, I'm ready. - All right.

And then you play the music [techno music playing]

[audience clapping along]
